Novel CT radiomics models for the postoperative prediction of early recurrence of resectable pancreatic adenocarcinoma: A single‐center retrospective study in China

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To assess the predictive capability of CT radiomics features for early recurrence (ER) of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Methods Postoperative PDAC patients were retrospectively selected, all of whom had undergone preoperative CT imaging and surgery. Both patients with resectable or borderline‐resectable pancreatic cancer met

All the mathematics in the world: logical validity and classical set theory

open access: yesZagadnienia Filozoficzne w Nauce, 2017
A recognizable topological model construction shows that any consistent principles of classical set theory, including the validity of the law of the excluded third, together with a standard class theory, do not suffice to demonstrate the general validity

Using deep learning generated CBCT contours for online dose assessment of prostate SABR treatments

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Prostate Stereotactic Ablative Body Radiotherapy (SABR) is an ultra‐hypofractionated treatment where small setup errors can lead to higher doses to organs at risk (OARs). Although bowel and bladder preparation protocols reduce inter‐fraction variability, inconsistent patient adherence still results in OAR variability.

Log file‐based quality assurance method for respiratory gating system

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background As medical linear accelerator technology advances, enabling higher dose rate deliveries, hypofractionation regimens has increased. This necessitates respiratory gating systems that synchronize radiation delivery with tumor position, requiring simple rigorous quality assurance (QA) to ensure treatment accuracy and patient safety ...

Integrating Universal Design and Response to Intervention in Methods Courses for General Education Mathematics Teachers

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics Education at Teachers College, 2014
Traditionally, teacher education programs have placed little emphasis on preparing mathematics teachers to work with students who struggle in mathematics. Therefore, it is crucial that mathematics teacher educators explicitly prepare prospective teachers

A synthesis of mathematics writing: Assessments, interventions, and surveys

open access: yesJournal of Writing Research, 2017
Mathematics standards in the United States describe communication as an essential part of mathematics. One outlet for communication is writing. To understand the mathematics writing of students, we conducted a synthesis to evaluate empirical research ...

Data‐driven forecasting of ship motions in waves using machine learning and dynamic mode decomposition

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
Summary Data‐driven forecasting of ship motions in waves is investigated through feedforward and recurrent neural networks as well as dynamic mode decomposition. The goal is to predict future ship motion variables based on past data collected on the field, using equation‐free approaches.

Elasticity of Diametrically Compressed Microfabricated Woodpile Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Modulus–porosity relationship is derived for woodpile lattices with struts under diametrical compression. The formula presented here that Young's modulus is proportional to the square of the volume fraction E˜ρ2$E \sim \left(\rho\right)^{2}$ is shown to be consistent with computations and laboratory experiments on 3D‐printed samples.
