A Performative Interpretation of Mathematics

2023
Inspired by a performative interpretation of language, a performative interpretation of mathematics is suggested. According to this interpretation, any form of mathematics is intrinsically linked to potential or actual actions. This interpretation is elaborated upon with respect to both advanced mathematics and school mathematics.

Mathematical description of the performance measurement and verification

IEEE Africon '11, 2011
Claimed savings of energy efficiency projects often need to be measured and verified. The measurement and verification (M&V) activities are guided by the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol in many countries. However, the M&V is largely believed to be an inaccurate science: an engineering practice with a lot of professional ...

Mathematical performance analysis of product networks

2007 International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Systems, 2007
In this paper, we propose the first comprehensive mathematical performance model for product networks where fully adaptive routing is applied. Besides the generality of this model which makes it suitable to be used for any product graph, our analysis shows that the proposed model exhibits high accuracy. Simulation results show the validity and accuracy

Performance Evaluation of Mathematical Formula Identification

2012 10th IAPR International Workshop on Document Analysis Systems, 2012
This paper presents a performance evaluation system for mathematical formula identification. First, a ground-truth dataset is constructed to facilitate the performance comparison of different mathematical formula identification algorithms. Statistics analysis of the dataset shows the diversities of the dataset to reflect the real-world documents ...
