Carya luodianensis (Juglandaceae), a New Species From Guizhou Province, Southern China, Revealed by Morphological and Plastid Evidence

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 3, March 2026.
Carya luodianensis (Juglandaceae), a new species, is described and illustrated. We combined morphological characteristics, comparative plastome analyses, and phylogenetic analysis, all of which support the recognition of C. luodianensis as a new species and highlight its evolutionary divergence within Carya. ABSTRACT Carya luodianensis Y.B. Yang & M.T.

The Complete Chloroplast Genome of a Vietnam Endemic Aroid, Homalomena perplexa K.Z.Hein, Vuong, Bao & V.S.Dang, and Updated Comparative Genomics in Araceae

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 3, March 2026.
The complete chloroplast genome of Homalomena perplexa, an endemic aroid to Vietnam, was completely sequenced and characterized. In addition, comparative genomic analysis revealed junction variations and phylogenetic analysis confirmed the infrafamilial relationships of Araceae.

Resolving the Taxonomic Enigma of Adonis in Eastern North China: An Integrated Phylogenomic Approach

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 3, March 2026.
In this study, we demonstrate for the first time that Adonis species from Hebei Province, China are distinct species from A. ramosa, supported by robust phylogenomic analyses (plastid genome data and single copy nuclear genes) and morphological evidence. We reveal a complicated evolutionary history of Adonis species in China. The confirmation of Adonis

Phylogeny and Biogeography of Calanthe Shed New Light on Alpine Origin and Radiation History of Calanthe Alliance

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 3, March 2026.
Using nrITS, plastome, and single‐copy SNP data, we resolved the phylogeny of the Calanthe alliance, which originated in the late Oligocene. Its diversification process followed a two‐step pattern: first the warmest Cenozoic interval and Himalayan uplift drove the formation of three major lineages, then sustained Miocene cooling shaped further ...

Application of internal transcribed spacers and maturase K markers for identifying Anoectochilus, Ludisia, and Ludochilus

open access: yesBiologia Plantarum, 2015
Internal transcribed spacer (ITS) regions and maturase K (matK) sequence polymorphisms provide an efficient tool for discrimination and conservation of genetic resources of Anoectochilus species.

Megaphylogenetic Specimen-Level Approaches to the Carex (Cyperaceae) Phylogeny Using ITS, ETS, and matK Sequences: Implications for Classification [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We present the first large-scale phylogenetic hypothesis for the genus Carex based on 996 of the 1983 accepted species (50.23%). We used a supermatrix approach using three DNA regions: ETS, ITS and matK.

Terniopsis chanthaburiensis (Podostemaceae), a new record for China and its complete plastid genome

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, Volume 2026, Issue 3, March 2026.
The genus Terniopsis consists of plants that have not been thoroughly studied, with many species remaining taxonomically unresolved. In this study, Terniopsis chanthaburiensis is reported as a new record of China based on morphological traits. Then, we assembled and annotated its chloroplast genome based on genome skimming data.

DNA Barcoding: Amplification and sequence analysis of rbcl and matK genome regions in three divergent plant species

open access: yesAdvancements in Life Sciences, 2016
Background: DNA barcoding is a novel method of species identification based on nucleotide diversity of conserved sequences. The establishment and refining of plant DNA barcoding systems is more challenging due to high genetic diversity among different ...
