Matrix-analytic methods in queuing theory

European Journal of Operational Research, 1984
Abstract This review describes the development during the past decade of a number of matrix-analytic methods for the study of a variety of stochastic models, primarily queues but also certain models for dams and inventories. This work originated in the search for algorithmic methods and has led to results that are well-suited for computer ...

Analytical Transfer Matrix Method

2013
A brief introduction of the derivation and the use of the transfer matrix to study propagation in one-dimensional lossless systems is presented in this chapter, including several most simple examples. Both the energy eigenvalue and scattering issues are illustrated with discrete potential of only very few layers.

MAMSolver: A Matrix Analytic Methods Tool

2002
MAMsolver is a software tool for the solution of M/G/1- type, GI/M/1-type, and QBD processes. The collection of solution algorithms implemented by MAMsolver are known as matrix-analytic methods and are used to compute stationary measures of interest such as the probability vector, the queue length distribution, the waiting time, the system queue length,

Partial Orders and the Matrix R in Matrix Analytic Methods

SIAM Journal on Matrix Analysis and Applications, 1999
Summary: This paper studies the matrix \(R\), which is the minimal nonnegative solution to a nonlinear matrix equation, raised in matrix analytic methods. Based on some partial orders defined on the transition matrix of Markov chains of GI/M/1 type, the monotonicity of the corresponding matrix \(R\) and its Perron-Frobenius eigenvalue is investigated ...

A MATRIX METHOD FOR THE FUZZY ANALYTIC HIERARCHY PROCESS

International Journal of Uncertainty, Fuzziness and Knowledge-Based Systems, 2011
This paper proposes a new method for finding fuzzy weights in the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP), which fuzzifies the derived formulation of an eigenvector directly. The presented formulation only needs information about the upper triangular matrix and the assumption of the reciprocal matrix in the original AHP is not necessary.

A MATRIX METHOD FOR THE FUZZY ANALYTIC NETWORK PROCESS

International Journal of Uncertainty, Fuzziness and Knowledge-Based Systems, 2008
In this paper, the fuzzy analytic network process (FANP) is proposed. For achieving this purpose, two problems are highlighted and overcome in this paper. First, the postulate of the reciprocal matrix should be released, because this property is not satisfied in the fuzzy comparison matrix.

A systematic analytical method for PKM stiffness matrix calculation

Proceedings 2006 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2006. ICRA 2006., 2006
The purpose of this work is to propose a new approach for the calculation of PKM stiffness matrix by using an analytical method based on matrix structural analysis. This method has as the main advantage to be systematic and it also can be applied to hyper-static PKM stiffness analysis.

The analytical transfer matrix method for quantum reflection

Chinese Physics B, 2010
In this paper, the analytical transfer matrix method (ATMM) is applied to study the properties of quantum reflection in three systems: a sech2 barrier, a ramp potential and an inverse harmonic oscillator. Our results agree with those obtained by Landau and Lifshitz [Landau L D and Lifshitz E M 1977 Quantum Mechanics (Non-relativistic Theory) (New York:
