Quantifying and mapping land use changes and regulating ecosystem service potentials in a data-scarce peri-urban region in Kenya

open access: yesEcosystems and People, 2019
Recent scientific developments are advancing to link land use and land cover (LULC) change with ecosystem service (ES) potentials. Such links within peri-urban ecosystems are scanty due to methodological and expertise challenge, and data limitation.

Challenges in Matrix Metalloproteinases Inhibition

open access: yesBiomolecules, 2020
Matrix metalloproteinases are enzymes that degrade the extracellular matrix. They have different substrates but similar structural organization. Matrix metalloproteinases are involved in many physiological and pathological processes and there is a need ...

Martingale matrix classes and polytopes

open access: yesLinear Algebra and its Applications, 2012
Let \(( \Omega, {\mathcal F}, P)\) be a probability space. This paper focuses on discrete time martingales where the underlying sample space is finite. Suppose \(\Omega= \{ \omega_1, \dots, \omega_s \}\) consists of \(s\) elements and \((M_t)_{t \in T}, T=\{1,2, \dots, n\}\) is a martingale, then construct an \(s \times n\) martingale matrix \(M=[ m_ ...

The PI3Kδ inhibitor roginolisib (IOA‐244) preserves T‐cell function and activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Identification of novel PI3K inhibitors with limited immune‐related adverse effects is highly sought after. We found that roginolisib and idelalisib inhibit chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) cells and Treg suppressive functions to similar extents, but roginolisib affects cytotoxic T‐cell function and promotion of pro‐inflammatory T helper subsets to a

Targeting p38α in cancer: challenges, opportunities, and emerging strategies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
p38α normally regulates cellular stress responses and homeostasis and suppresses malignant transformation. In cancer, however, p38α is co‐opted to drive context‐dependent proliferation and dissemination. p38α also supports key functions in cells of the tumor microenvironment, including fibroblasts, myeloid cells, and T lymphocytes.

RaMBat: Accurate identification of medulloblastoma subtypes from diverse data sources with severe batch effects

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
To integrate multiple transcriptomics data with severe batch effects for identifying MB subtypes, we developed a novel and accurate computational method named RaMBat, which leveraged subtype‐specific gene expression ranking information instead of absolute gene expression levels to address batch effects of diverse data sources.

New Integrated and Differentiated Sequence Spaces $\int{b_{p}^{r,s}}$ and $d\,b_{p}^{r,s}$

open access: yesSakarya Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü Dergisi
In this work, we construct new sequence spaces by combining the integrated and differentiated sequence spaces with the binomial matrix. Firstly, we provide information about basic matters such as sequence spaces and matrix domain. Subsequently we briefly

Duality in non-Hermitian random matrix theory

open access: yesNuclear Physics B
We consider 9 Gaussian matrix ensembles characterized by single symmetry among the 38-fold symmetry classification classes of non-Hermitian random matrices, and establish exact duality formulae of certain observables between them.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.
