EFFECTIVENESS OF MATRIX METALLOPROTEINASES INHIBITORS FOR PREVENTIVE TREATMENT OF GENERALIZED PERIODONTITIS

open access: yesУкраїнський стоматологічний альманах, 2022
Generalized periodontitis is one of the most widespread human stomatological diseases; it is diagnosed in 11.0 % of the world's population. Despite the recognition of the microbial factor as leading in its etiopathogenesis, antimicrobial treatment of ...

Quantitative proteomic analysis reveals different characteristics of bladder cancer cells after exposure to bisphenol A

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bisphenol A (BPA), a common chemical in plastics, exerts dual effects on bladder cancer cells: low doses promote growth and migration, while high doses suppress growth and migration. Multi‐omics and bioinformatics reveal BPA acts via MAPK and inflammatory pathways.

The predictive function of rates of matrix metalloproteinases/inhibitors system when assessing reparative changes in the lung tissue in those with infiltrate pulmonary tuberculosis

open access: yesТуберкулез и болезни лёгких, 2018
The objective: to study the rates of matrix metalloproteinases/inhibitors system in infiltrate pulmonary tuberculosis during changes occurring in the intensive phase of treatment in order to develop a statistic model aimed to predict reparative changes ...

The Aging Blood: Cellular Origins, Circulating Drivers, and Therapeutic Potential

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
As a conduit linking all organs, the blood system both reflects and actively drives systemic aging. This review highlights how circulating pro‐aging and antiaging factors and age‐associated hematopoietic stem cell dysfunction contribute to immunosenescence and multi‐organ decline, positioning the hematopoietic system as a target for aging intervention.

Dependence of TIMP-1 plasma levels on preanalytical specimen handling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Background: Tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-1 (TIMP-1) in blood might be a helpful biomarker in various diseases. However, various authors report that TIMP-1 is dependent on preanalytical procedures.

Serum Soluble Mediator Signatures of Lupus Nephritis: Histologic Features and Response to Treatment

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Lupus nephritis (LN) management remains challenging, and novel noninvasive biomarkers are needed. This study quantified serum soluble mediators in the Accelerating Medicines Partnership (AMP) LN cohort to identify biomarkers of histologic features and treatment response.

Host‐Directed Biomaterials for Combatting Bloodstream Infections: From Macrocyclic Peptides to Immune‐Activating Cell Backpacks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bloodstream infections (BSI) are one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity in both civilian and military populations. This paper summarizes recent progress in novel treatment strategies to manage BSI arising from both bacterial and fungal pathogens using molecules, particles, and materials to elicit host‐directed immunity.

Distinct emphysema subtypes defined by quantitative CT analysis are associated with specific pulmonary matrix metalloproteinases. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
BACKGROUND: Emphysema is characterised by distinct pathological sub-types, but little is known about the divergent underlying aetiology. Matrix-metalloproteinases (MMPs) are proteolytic enzymes that can degrade the extracellular matrix and have been ...
