This study uses multivariate adaptive regression spline (MARS) for determination of maximum shear modulus (G max ) and minimum damping ratio (ξ min ) of synthetic reinforced soil. MARS employs confining pressure (σ, psi), rubber (r, %) and sand (s, %) as input variables. The outputs of the MARS are G max and ξ min .

The maximum shear modulus of expansive soil during wetting-drying processes and its prediction
In order to examine the dynamic characteristics of expansive soil in natural environment, the maximum shear modulus of undisturbed and remoulded Nanyang expansive soil specimens were tested by using a triaxial apparatus equipping with a pair of bender ...

Predicting the Maximum Shear Modulus of Sands Containing Nonplastic Fines
AbstractThere are some attempts to evaluate Hardin’s equation for transition soils, i.e., sand mixed with a systematic increase of fines (particle size≤0.075 mm) content, fc.

This study conducted experimental tests on the undisturbed Nanjing Yangtze River floodplain soft soil using the bender element instrument to determine the maximum dynamic shear modulus of the Yangtze River floodplain overconsolidated soft soil. The Gmax of floodplain soft soil with different overconsolidated ratio OCR, initial effective confining ...

Research on compression-shear behavior and modulus transition design of asphalt layer in rigid-flexible composite pavement [PDF]
The stiffness of base layers significantly influences the mechanical response and failure mode of asphalt pavement structures. To investigate the mechanical behavior of the asphalt layer and enhance its structural performance, this study systematically ...
