On the change points of mean residual life and failure rate functions for some generalized gamma type distributions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Metrology and Quality Engineering, 2014
Mean residual life and failure rate functions are ubiquitously employed in reliability analysis. The term of useful period of lifetime distributions of bathtub-shaped failure rate functions is referred to the flat rigion of this ...

Rank Estimation for Mean Residual Life Transformation Model [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, 2020
This paper proposes a new and important class of mean residual life regression model, which is called the mean residual life transformation model.  The link function is assumed to be unknown and increasing in its second argument, but it is permitted to be not differentiable.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Survival as a Function of Life Expectancy [PDF]

open access: yes
It is well known that life expectancy can be expressed as an integral of the survival curve. The reverse - that the survival function can be expressed as an integral of life expectancy - is also true.force of mortality, life expectancy, life table ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Assessment of residual stress using thermoelastic stress analysis

open access: yes, 2011
The work described in this thesis considers the application of thermoelastic stress analysis (TSA) to theassessment of residual stresses in metallic materials. Residual stresses exist within almost all engineeringcomponents and structures.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Preservation properties for the discrete mean residual life ordering

open access: yes, 2015
The purpose of this paper is to prove several preservation properties of stochastic comparisons based on the discrete mean residual life ordering d-MRL under the reliability operations of convolutions, mixtures.

Fisher consistent estimation of regression parameter in the proportional mean residual life model with frailty

open access: yes, 2021
In the article, we consider the Fisher consistent estimation of the regression parameters in the proportional mean residual life model with arbitrary frailty.
