Transfer entropy and cumulant-based cost as measures of nonlinear causal relationships in space plasmas: applications to Dst

open access: yesAnnals of Geophysics, 2018
. It is well known that the magnetospheric response to the solar wind is nonlinear. Information theoretical tools such as mutual information, transfer entropy, and cumulant-based analysis are able to characterize the nonlinearities in the system.

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Improved Cross Entropy Measures of Single Valued Neutrosophic Sets and Interval Neutrosophic Sets and Their Multicriteria Decision Making Methods

open access: yesCybernetics and Information Technologies, 2015
Due to some drawbacks of the cross entropy between Single Valued Neutrosophic Sets (SVNSs) in dealing with decision-making problems, the existing single valued neutrosophic cross entropy indicates an asymmetrical phenomenon or may produce an undefined ...

On Relations Between the Relative entropy and $\chi^2$-Divergence, Generalizations and Applications

open access: yes, 2020
The relative entropy and chi-squared divergence are fundamental divergence measures in information theory and statistics. This paper is focused on a study of integral relations between the two divergences, the implications of these relations, their ...

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

Properties of Entropy-Based Topological Measures of Fullerenes

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
A fullerene is a cubic three-connected graph whose faces are entirely composed of pentagons and hexagons. Entropy applied to graphs is one of the significant approaches to measuring the complexity of relational structures.

Is the Voronoi Entropy a True Entropy? Comments on “Entropy, Shannon’s Measure of Information and Boltzmann’s H-Theorem”, Entropy 2017, 19, 48 [PDF]

open access: yesEntropy, 2019
The goal of this comment note is to express our considerations about the recent paper by A. Ben Naim (Entropy 2017, 19, 48). We strongly support the distinguishing between the Shannon measure of information and the thermodynamic entropy, suggested in the paper.

Multiple attribute group decision‐making based on order‐α divergence and entropy measures under q‐rung orthopair fuzzy environment

open access: yesInternational Journal of Intelligent Systems, 2020
The q‐rung orthopair fuzzy set (qROPFS), proposed by Yager, is a more effective and proficient tool to represent uncertain or vague information in real‐life situations.
