Live animal measurements, carcass composition and plasma hormone and metabolite concentrations in male progeny of sires differing in genetic merit for beef production [PDF]
peer-reviewedIn genetic improvement programmes for beef cattle, the effect of selecting for a given trait or index on other economically important traits, or their predictors, must be quantified to ensure no deleterious consequential effects go unnoticed.

Investigation of uniformity in pig carcass and meat quality traits
The study was carried out to provide information on uniformity of commercial pigs on some of the most important traits determining pork quality: carcass, loin, ham and shoulder weights, fatness, drip loss, pH and colour. Three batches of pigs raised at the same farm and slaughtered at four different dates in the same commercial abattoir were considered.

Invited Review: Measurable biomarkers linked to meat quality from different pig production systems [PDF]
Biological processes underlie all livestock traits, including post-mortem meat quality traits. Biomarkers are molecular components of the biological processes showing differential expression associated with the phenotype of the trait.

Genomic Approaches Reveal Pleiotropic Effects in Crossbred Beef Cattle
Carcass and meat quality are two important attributes for the beef industry because they drive profitability and consumer demand. These traits are of even greater importance in crossbred cattle used in subtropical and tropical regions for their superior ...

A physics‐informed generative framework introduces Directional Latent Hybridization (DLH) for the deterministic inverse design of nonlinear metamaterials. By hybridizing dominant traits from parent geometries in the latent space, DLH overcomes the instabilities of stochastic models to ensure high structural precision at high densities.

Unlocking Terahertz Steganography: Authentication of Hidden Images in Flexible Media
Hidden information in multilayered devices, such as steganographic portraits, is detected and authenticated using reflection‐mode terahertz time‐domain imaging. Image reconstruction relies on a dedicated figure‐of‐merit obtained by integrating the signal intensity over the time‐window associated with the reflection from the metallic mirror backing the ...

The physicochemical characteristics of the Longissimus lumborum muscle of crossbred pigs in relation to the CLPS and RYR1 genes polymorphism [PDF]
The experiment was conducted on 109 F1 crossbred fatteners [(Polish Large White x Polish Landrace) x Pietrain]. The animals were slaughtered at about 105 kg of live body weight.
