Integrated Multi‐Omics Reveals Cellular States and Microenvironmental Remodeling in Coexisting DCIS and IDC

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Coexisting DCIS and IDC samples are profiled using spatial transcriptomics, single‐cell RNA sequencing, and single‐cell DNA sequencing. Integrative multi‐omics analysis reveals distinct malignant epithelial and microenvironmental features between DCIS and IDC, which are further validated using Xenium and multiplex immunohistochemistry.

Soil pH Amelioration Synergizes Carbon Accrual with Yield Gains Under Organic Substitution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Soil pH shifts towards neutrality in both acidic and alkaline soils under organic substitution. A global synthesis links pH amelioration to soil organic carbon accrual through enhanced microbial biomass after accounting for added organic carbon and its interaction with pH. This pH amelioration‐shared soil organic carbon accrual accounts for 5.1–8.6% of

U.S. Consumer Preferences for Cage‐Free Eggs and Hen Housing Policies

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Farm animal welfare (FAW) continues to be a divisive issue in the egg industry. In the United States, 10 states and most major retailers have implemented policies or voluntary pledges to transition to 100% cage‐free egg sales. We use best‐worst scaling and discrete choice experiments to evaluate U.S.

Network Analysis Reveals Putative Genes Affecting Meat Quality in Angus Cattle

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2017
Improvements in eating satisfaction will benefit consumers and should increase beef demand which is of interest to the beef industry. Tenderness, juiciness, and flavor are major determinants of the palatability of beef and are often used to reflect ...

Effects of phytogenic additives on meat quality traits in broiler chickens1 [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Animal Science, 2018
Phytogenics have been reported to improve growth performances in farm animals and are thereby considered as potential key solutions for antibiotic-free livestock nutrition. Yet, their effects on meat quality are still not well defined; therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the effects of 5 experimental phytogenic additives (3 dietary and 2 ...

Production and economic traits of purebreed and crossbred animals in diary herds of mountain areas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Beef production from dairy herds represents an alternative source to improve the farm profitability. The use of beef semen to mate cattle not destined to breed replacement represent an interesting source of income for dairy farmers particularly due to ...

Animal‐Based Brands Taking the Plant‐Based Opportunity: A Tasting Experiment Exploring Consumer Acceptance of Plant‐Based Brand Extensions

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates how consumer taste and brand equity perceptions shape the acceptance of plant‐based milk products. Using a blind/informed tasting experiment, we evaluated consumers' willingness to buy (WTB) and taste perception of a plant‐based milk alternative produced by a traditional dairy brand, compared with competing plant‐based ...

Meat quality and muscle fiber comparisons between rapid- and slow-growth broilers

open access: yesPoultry Science
Consumers are concerned about differences in meat quality between rapid-growth (RG) and slow-growth (SG) broilers available commercially. Comparative studies are required to underpin consumer confidence.

Is There a Market for Organic Milk in Serbia? Insights From Integrated Choice and Latent Variable Model

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Past growth in the global organic market has been concentrated in high‐income countries, while in middle‐income countries such as Serbia the organic market remains nascent and characterized by a sparse assortment of organic products, high retail premia and limited evidence on consumer preferences and their drivers.

Interpretability and Representability of Commutative Algebra, Algebraic Topology, and Topological Spectral Theory for Real‐World Data

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
This article investigates how persistent homology, persistent Laplacians, and persistent commutative algebra reveal complementary geometric, topological, and algebraic invariants or signatures of real‐world data. By analyzing shapes, synthetic complexes, fullerenes, and biomolecules, the article shows how these mathematical frameworks enhance ...
