Predicting the mechanical properties and composition optimization of a burn-resistant titanium alloy for aero-engines

open access: yes工程科学学报, 2022
Lightweight high-temperature titanium alloys are a key material for aero-engines. With the increasing use of new titanium alloys in aero-engines, titanium fire has become a typical catastrophic fault that plagues material design and selection.

Enhancing Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of AZ31-MWCNT Nanocomposites through Mechanical Alloying

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2013
Multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) reinforced Mg alloy AZ31 nanocomposites were fabricated by mechanical alloying and powder metallurgy technique. The reinforcement material MWCNTs were blended in three weight fractions (0.33%, 0.66%, and 1%) with the ...

Effect of intercritical processing temperature on mechanical properties, microstructure and microhardness of ferrite - bainite medium carbon dual phase steels

open access: yesCogent Engineering, 2021
This research focusses on the dual phase (ferrite and bainite) treatment for medium carbon steels containing same carbon content (different alloying elements) and mechanical properties, as well as microhardness and microstructure. Dual phase treatment is

Tensile strain-induced softening of iron at high temperature

open access: yes, 2015
In weakly ferromagnetic materials, already small changes in the atomic configuration triggered by temperature or chemistry can alter the magnetic interactions responsible for the non-random atomic-spin orientation. Different magnetic states, in turn, can

Study of the formation of Cu-24at.% Al by reactive milling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this work, powders of Cu and Al were milled with a proportion equal to 24 atomic % Al, using low and medium energy mills. The initial, intermediate and final stages of the resulting powder are analyzed using scanning electron microscopy, X-ray ...

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Is Cell Viability Always Directly Related to Corrosion Resistance of Stainless Steels? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
It has been frequently reported that cell viability on stainless steels is improved by increasing their corrosion resistance. The question that arises is whether human cell viability is always directly related to corrosion resistance in these biostable ...
