High-temperature quality of accelerated spheroidization on SUP9 leaf spring to enhance machinability

open access: yesHeliyon, 2018
The high temperature on the austenitization showed the varied results in the fast spheroidization in high carbon leaf spring steel SUP9/55CrMnA. The heating temperature was held for 15 minutes in the austenitization temperature at 800, 850, and 900 °C ...

Multi-Color Cavity Ringdown Based Detection Method and Apparatus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A multi-color cavity ringdown based spectrometer system is housed in a light tight enclosure to detect the presence of trace quantities of gas phase molecules emanating from a subject, explosives, drugs, or hazardous materials. A method is also disclosed

Targeting rapid TKI‐induced AXL upregulation overcomes adaptive ERK reactivation and exerts antileukemic effects in FLT3/ITD acute myeloid leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptive ERK reactivation hinders FLT3 tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) treatment in FLT3/ITD acute myeloid leukemia. Here, we report that FLT3 TKI treatment rapidly induces AXL expression and upregulation that is temporally associated with the adaptive ERK reactivation.

Removal Versus Ablation in KrF Dry Laser Cleaning of Polystyrene Particles from Silicon [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Direct absorption and melting of 0.2, 0.5 and 1.1 μm polystyrene particles on a Si substrate irradiated by 248 nm excimer laser radiation was found to contribute to their dry laser removal via a hopping mechanism at cleaning thresholds of 0.05, 0.1 ...

Combined spatially resolved metabolomics and spatial transcriptomics reveal the mechanism of RACK1‐mediated fatty acid synthesis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The authors analyzed the spatial distributions of gene and metabolite profiles in cervical cancer through spatial transcriptomic and spatially resolved metabolomic techniques. Pivotal genes and metabolites within these cases were then identified and validated.

The efficiency of simple Quantum Engine Stirling and Ericsson cycle [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The quantum engine cycle serves as an analogous representation of the macroscopic nature of heat engines and the quantum regime of thermal devices composed of a single element. In this work, we follow the formalism of a quantum engine proposed by Bender et al.

The Stirling engine mechanism optimization

open access: yesPerspectives in Science, 2016
A special type of the gas engine with external combustion is called Stirling engine. The mechanism has two pistons with two volumes inside. The pistons are connected together through cooler, regenerator and warmer. The engine effectivity depends on the piston movement behaviour. The usual sinusoidal time curve leads to low effectiveness.

Integrative systems‐level analysis reveals a contextual crosstalk between hypoxia and global metabolism in human breast tumors

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast tumor samples scored for metabolic deregulation (M1 to M3) were given a hypoxia score (HS). The highest HS occurred in patients with strongest metabolic deregulation (M3), supporting tumor aggressiveness. HS correlated with the highest number of metabolic pathways in M1. This suggests hypoxia to be an early event in metabolic deregulation.

Development of an electrolysis based system to continuously recover magnesium from seawater

open access: yesHeliyon, 2018
The continuous resources recovery system utilizing the water electrolysis reaction was developed for recovering magnesium resources from seawater. A set of experiments for forming magnesium hydroxide from the deep-ocean water were carried out at a ...
