Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

A systematic approach to introducing electric scooter within Nanyang Technological University

open access: yes, 2020
The transport system present within Nanyang Technological University (NTU) often struggles to transport passengers from their origin to their destination. Such situations can be observed happening during the peak hours where queues are lengthy, there are

Microneedle-based skin patch for blood-free rapid diagnostic testing

open access: yes, 2020
Rapid diagnostic tests are one of the most commonly used tests to detect and screen for infectious diseases in the developing world. While these tests are simple, inexpensive, and readily available, they rely on finger-prick blood sampling, which ...

An Approach to Modeling and Developing Virtual Sensors Used in the Simulation of Autonomous Vehicles

open access: yesSensors
A virtual model enables the study of reality in a virtual environment using a theoretical model, which is a digital image of a real model. The complexity of the virtual model must correspond to the reality of the evaluated system, becoming as complex as ...

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Using a meshless method to assess the effect of mechanical loading in angiogenesis

open access: yes
Although it is known that blood vessels can be found in mechanically active environments, less is known about the effect of mechanical stimulus in angiogenesis.

A multiphysics model for rapid collapse and slow recovery movements of Mimosa pudica with experimental validation

open access: yes, 2020
A remarkable feature of Mimosa pudica is its ability to deform rapidly in response to certain external stimuli. In this thesis, a two-dimensional(2D) transient bio-chemo-electro-mechanical model of the rapid collapse movement of the main pulvinus of ...
