Suspected Cardioembolic Stroke Linked to Left Atrial Stunning After Pulsed Field Ablation for Atrial Fibrillation

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 3, June 2026.
After pulsed field ablation with pulmonary vein and posterior wall isolation, a patient developed ischemic stroke due to left carotid artery occlusion. Pathology of the retrieved thrombus revealed an acute red thrombus, suggesting left atrial stunning–induced thrombus formation.

The value of multimodality imaging for detection, characterisation and management of a wall adhering structure in the right atrium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The case presents a wall adherent structure in the right atrium in a young patient with peripheral tcell lymphoma followed by successful prolonged lysis therapy resulting in the resolution of the thrombus is presented.

Mechanical thrombectomy in patients with acute basilar occlusion using stent retrievers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Early arterial recanalisation with stent retrievers (SR) has been recently demonstrated to improve clinical outcome of patients with large-vessel occlusion of the anterior circulation.

Trainee and Faculty Perspectives of Neurointerventional Curricula in Residency: a Scoping Review

open access: yesThe Clinical Teacher, Volume 23, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose Neuroendovascular intervention (NEI) or interventional neuroradiology (INR) exposure is limited during neurosurgery, neurology and diagnostic radiology residencies as this is a fellowship‐based area of competence. Although structured curricula exist, residents may graduate with limited knowledge and skills related to endovascular ...

DNase1 RS1053874 Polymorphism is Associated with Early Neurological Recovery through NET Modulation and with Long‐Term Survival in Ischemic Stroke: A Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, Volume 99, Issue 5, Page 1210-1223, May 2026.
Objective Immunothrombosis contributes to ischemic stroke pathophysiology through neutrophil extracellular trap (NET) formation, which promotes thrombus stabilization and microvascular dysfunction. DNase1 is the principal endonuclease responsible for NET degradation.

In Which Cases Is Additional Direct Surgery Useful for Mechanical Thrombectomy Failure?

open access: yesNeurologia Medico-Chirurgica
Clinical evidence for adding direct surgery to the management of patients with large vessel occlusion after mechanical thrombectomy failure is limited. We investigated which patients would benefit from the additional surgery.

Acute Ischemic Pediatric Stroke Management: An Extended Window for Mechanical Thrombectomy?

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2017
Ischemic stroke is a rare condition to afflict the pediatric population. Congenital cardiomyopathy represents one of several possible etiologies in children.

Assessment of Vessel Density on Non-Contrast Computed Tomography to Detect Basilar Artery Occlusion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Introduction: Basilar artery occlusion (BAO) may be clinically occult due to variable and non-specific symptomatology. We evaluated the qualitative and quantitative determination of a hyperdense basilar artery (HDBA) on non-contrast computed tomography ...

Endovascular Thrombectomy for Ischemic Stroke Increases Disability-Free Survival, Quality of Life, and Life Expectancy and Reduces Cost [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background: Endovascular thrombectomy improves functional outcome in large vessel occlusion ischemic stroke. We examined disability, quality of life, survival and acute care costs in the EXTEND-IA trial, which used CT-perfusion imaging selection. Methods:

Clot Composition Profiling in Large Vessel Occlusion Stroke Via Radiomics

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, Volume 99, Issue 5, Page 1179-1188, May 2026.
Objective Clot composition may offer insights into the mechanism of ischemic stroke. Radiomics, a noninvasive imaging technique, enables tissue characterization through radiomic features (RFs). We aimed to evaluate clot composition using radiomics on non‐contrast computed tomography (NCCT).
