Mechanochemical organic synthesis

Chemical Society Reviews, 2013
Recently, mechanical milling using a mixer mill or planetary mill has been fruitfully utilized in organic synthesis under solvent-free conditions. This review article provides a comprehensive overview of various solvent-free mechanochemical organic reactions, including metal-mediated or -catalyzed reactions, condensation reactions, nucleophilic ...

Mechanochemical synthesis of mullite

Glass and Ceramics, 1999
The specifics of mechanical activation processes in modifying synthetic corundum powder and gels by silicon alkoxide are considered. As Al2O3 is milled with a silicon alkoxide additive, Al2O3 and SiO2 reactants are activated with the formation of an intermediate self-organized complex, in which the mechanochemical interaction proceeds accompanied by ...

Mechanochemical synthesis of LiNiO2

Materials Science and Engineering: B, 2005
Abstract The mechanochemical process has been used to synthesize precursors and evaluate their efficacy in generating the layered structure of LiNiO2 at lower heat treatment temperatures. A comprehensive study of the as-milled precursor has been conducted using simultaneous TG/DTA.

Mechanochemical Synthesis of Organic Dyes and Fluorophores

The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2021
The syntheses of dyes and fluorophores have significant commercial importance. In recent years, mechanochemistry has emerged as a green and sustainable alternative for the synthesis of conventional dyes, new fluorophores, and also synthetic modification of known dyes for their use as chemosensors. The dyestuffs based on BODIPYs, rhodamine, fluorescein,

Mechanochemical synthesis of hercynite

Materials Chemistry and Physics, 2002
Abstract The synthesis of hercynite (FeAl2O4) by thermal treatment of mechanochemically activated (Al+Fe3O4) mixtures is studied. The evolution of structure, texture and physicochemical behavior with activation time is analyzed by XRD, DTA and SEM. From activated samples, it is possible to obtain hercynite by dynamic thermal treatment at 1200 °C in ...

Mechanochemical synthesis of alane

International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, 2009
Abstract Alane can be synthesized by cryomilling alanate and aluminium halides. The yield of alane has been found to be increased using 3NaAlH4 + AlCl3 and 3LiAlD4 + AlBr3 compared to 3LiAlD4 + AlCl3. Furthermore the relative amount of α′- over α-alane has increased from 0.63–0.67 to 1.05 by adding small amounts of FeF3 to 3LiAlD4 + AlCl3.

Mechanochemical synthesis of NaNbO3

Materials Research Bulletin, 2005
Abstract The mechanochemical synthesis of NaNbO3 is studied. It is shown that NaNbO3 can be prepared by milling the constituents, i.e. Na2CO3 and Nb2O5 in the planetary mill. After 40 h of mechanochemical treatment NaNbO3 nanoparticles in the range of 10–20 nm are obtained. Furthermore, the high-energy milling leads to the mechanochemically-triggered

Mechanochemical Nitride Synthesis

Materials Science Forum, 2007
A frequent criticism of nitride materials during the last 30 years, and especially those designed for structural applications has been that the cost is too high by a factor of (say) 10. In the competition with cheaper materials (albeit with poorer properties and shorter lifetimes), users have generally preferred to go for the cheaper option, rather ...
