Megakaryocytic Myelosis in a Cat
Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, 1976SUMMARY A myeloproliferative disorder in a cat was characterized by abnormal proliferation of megakaryocytes in the bone marrow and by severe, nonregenerative anemia. The number of circulating thrombocytes was increased markedly, with many giant and morphologically bizarre forms.

Megakaryocytic Leukemia in a Dog
Veterinary Pathology, 1978Most leukemias of dogs involve neutrophilic precursors. Monocytic leukemia is less common and only single cases of basophilic, megakaryocytic and erythroid leukemia in the canine species have been recorded [7]. A case of megakaryocytic leukosis of questionable neoplastic nature in a dog also has been described [lo].

CD9 and megakaryocyte differentiation
Blood, 2001AbstractIt is shown that the tetraspanin CD9 has a complex pattern of distribution in hematopoietic cells and is heterogeneously expressed on human bone marrow CD34+ cells. CD34highCD38lowThy1+ primitive progenitors are contained in the population with intermediate CD9 expression, thus suggesting that CD9 expression may precede CD38 appearance.

Megakaryocyte endomitosis: A review
The International Journal of Cell Cloning, 1990During the early stages of their differentiation, megakaryocytes become polyploid through repeated DNA replication and endomitotic cycles without cytokinesis. The molecular basis for the process of polyploidization remains unknown. This review summarizes available information on the cell biology of the process of endomitosis.

The determination of megakaryocyte ploidy
The International Journal of Cell Cloning, 1990Methods which have been used to determine megakaryocyte ploidy in animals and humans are reviewed. Although the number of megakaryocyte nuclear units counted in bone marrow squashes is roughly proportional to ploidy, accurate determinations of DNA content require the use of microphotometry or flow cytometry.

Systems Biology of Megakaryocytes
2014The molecular pathways that regulate megakaryocyte production have historically been identified through multiple candidate gene approaches. Several transcription factors critical for generating megakaryocytes were identified by promoter analysis of megakaryocyte-specific genes, and their biological roles then verified by gene knockout studies; for ...

Immunological face of megakaryocytes
Frontiers of MedicineMegakaryocytes (MKs), which are traditionally known for their role in platelet production, are now emerging as unique immune cells with diverse capabilities. They express immune receptors, participate in pathogen recognition and response, phagocytose pathogens, contribute to antigen presentation, and interact with various immune cell types.

[Megakaryocytic leukemia cell lines and megakaryocytic leukemia].
Rinsho byori. The Japanese journal of clinical pathology, 1990Using the megakaryocytic leukemia cell lines, K-562 and CMK established from a Down's patient with acute megakaryoblastic leukemia, we studied the changes of antigen expression, cytosolic Ca2+ mobilization, thromboxane (TX) A2 formation and gene expression during megakaryocyte differentiation. We found that thrombospondin synthesis and platelet factor (
