Quantitative analysis of the clinical signs in marine fish induced by Megalocytivirus infection

open access: yesJournal of fish pathology, 2011
In quantitative studies of clinical signs, rock bream of adults and juveniles infected with Megalocytivirus IVS-1 isolated from rock bream (Oplegnathus fasciatus) in Korea showed average and of spleen index respectively. In challenge experiments, Megalocytivirus IVS-1 induced 100% cumulative mortality in both adult and juvenile rock bream.

Genome of Invertebrate Iridescent Virus Type 3 (Mosquito Iridescent Virus) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Iridoviruses (IVs) are classified into five genera: Iridovirus and Chloriridovirus, whose members infect invertebrates, and Ranavirus, Lymphocystivirus, and Megalocytivirus, whose members infect vertebrates.

Virions proteins of an RSIV-type megalocytivirus from spotted knifejaw Oplegnathus punctatus (SKIV-ZJ07)

open access: yesVirology, 2013
Megalocytiviruses have three main genotypes, which are represented by ISKNV, RSIV, and TRBIV. To date, the virion-associated proteins of RSIV and TRBIV are still unknown. The spotted knifejaw iridovirus (SKIV) is a newly characterized RSIV-type megalocytivirus.

Risk assessment of wild fish as environmental sources of red sea bream iridovirus (RSIV) outbreaks in aquaculture [PDF]

open access: yes
: Red sea bream iridovirus (RSIV) causes substantial economic damage to aquaculture. In the present study, RSIV in wild fish in an aquaculture environment was surveyed to evaluate the risk of wild fish being an infection source for RSIV outbreaks in ...

PAT-2 Rapid Diagnostic Test of Red Sea Bream Iridoviral Disease (RSIVD) in Grouper Epinephelus sp. Based on Serological Co-Agglutination and Molecular Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Red sea bream iridoviral disease (RSIVD) is caused by red sea bream iridovirus (RSIV), adouble stranded DNA of Icosahedral virus with a diameter of 120-240 nm [1].

Genomic analysis of Megalocytivirus genomes reveals widespread recombination

open access: yes
Abstract Megalocytiviruses are pathogens of global significance that can lead to substantial economic losses in aquaculture. Recombination among megalocytiviruses is typically assumed to be rare, although it has been relatively understudied.
