Sequencing and analysis of the complete genome of Rana grylio virus (RGV) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Infection with Rana grylio virus (RGV), an iridovirus isolated in China in 1995, resulted in a high mortality rate in frogs. The complete genome sequence of RGV was determined and analyzed.

Detection of spatiotemporal variation in ranavirus distribution using eDNA

open access: yesEnvironmental DNA, Volume 2, Issue 2, Page 210-220, April 2020., 2020
We investigated the presence of ranaviruses in wetlands in Ontario, Canada by using eDNA. Our results showed a widespread presence of ranavirus in southern Ontario with seasonal variability. Habitat occupancy modeling showed that wetland size influenced ranavirus occupancy while sampling date influenced the probability of detection.

Emerging Roles for Immunomodulatory Functions of Free ISG15 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Type I interferons (IFNs) exert their effects through the induction of hundreds of IFN-stimulated genes (ISGs), many of which function by inhibiting viral replication and modulating immune responses. ISG15, a di-ubiquitin-like protein, is one of the most

Evolution of DNA ligases of Nucleo-Cytoplasmic Large DNA viruses of eukaryotes: a case of hidden complexity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Background Eukaryotic Nucleo-Cytoplasmic Large DNA Viruses (NCLDV) encode most if not all of the enzymes involved in their DNA replication. It has been inferred that genes for these enzymes were already present in the last common ancestor of the NCLDV ...

Systemic iridovirus from threespine stickleback Gasterosteus aculeatus represents a new megalocytivirus species (family Iridoviridae) [PDF]

open access: yesDiseases of Aquatic Organisms, 2012
Megalocytiviruses have been associated with epizootics resulting in significant economic losses in public aquaria and food-fish and ornamental fish industries, as well as threatening wild fish stocks. The present report describes characteristics of the first megalocytivirus from a wild temperate North American fish, the threespine stickleback ...
