Megalocytivirus mempunyai tiga spesies yaitu Infectious Spleen and Kidney Necrosis Virus (ISKNV), Red Sea Bream Iridovirus (RSIV), dan Turbot Redy Body Iridovirus (TRBIV).

Poly(I:C) induces antiviral immune responses in Japanese flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) that require TLR3 and MDA5 and is negatively regulated by Myd88. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Polyinosinic:polycytidylic acid (poly(I:C)) is a ligand of toll-like receptor (TLR) 3 that has been used as an immunostimulant in humans and mice against viral diseases based on its ability to enhance innate and adapt immunity. Antiviral effect of poly(I:

Viral Disease Histopathology in Aquaculture Finfish: Organ‐Specific Pathological Changes and Diagnostic Insights, Referencing the World Organisation for Animal Health: A Review

open access: yesReviews in Aquaculture, Volume 18, Issue 2, March 2026.
ABSTRACT The aquaculture industry faces significant challenges from viral diseases, many of which are listed by the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) as priority pathogens due to their impact on global finfish health and production. This review synthesizes current knowledge on the histopathology of key WOAH‐listed viral pathogens, including ...

Characterization and Antibody Preparation of the Gene Products of Grouper Iridovirus ORF5L

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 5, Issue 6, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Grouper iridovirus (GIV) is a large DNA virus belonging to the family Iridoviridae and genus Ranavirus. It consists of 139,793 base pairs (bp) and 120 open reading frames (ORFs). GIV is a key pathogen of farmed fish worldwide. The functional roles of viral genes must be determined for the early diagnosis, treatment and prevention of viral ...

Formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) samples help to investigate transcriptomic responses in wildlife disease

open access: yesMolecular Ecology Resources, Volume 25, Issue 5, July 2025.
Abstract Infectious diseases impact numerous organisms. Knowledge of host‐pathogen interactions and host responses to infection is crucial for conservation and management. Obtaining this knowledge quickly is made increasingly possible by a variety of genomic approaches, yet, for many species the bottleneck to understanding this, remains access to ...

The Genomic Diversity and Phylogenetic Relationship in the Family Iridoviridae

open access: yesViruses, 2010
The Iridoviridae family are large viruses (~120-200 nm) that contain a linear double-stranded DNA genome. The genomic size of Iridoviridae family members range from 105,903 bases encoding 97 open reading frames (ORFs) for frog virus 3 to 212,482 bases ...

The Future of Pathogen Detection in Aquaculture: Miniature Labs, Field‐Compatible Assays, environmental DNA and RNA, CRISPR and Metatranscriptomics

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 5, Issue 3, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Inland recirculating aquaculture is a thriving food industry providing sustainable and locally sourced high‐quality protein. However, its expansion is accompanied by emerging challenges regarding the spread of pathogens and diseases. Detection and management of pathogens in aquaculture remain underdeveloped compared to other animal farming ...
