This study compared the ecological toxicity of organic ultraviolet filters, octocrylene (OC) and ethylhexyl salicylate (EHS), on zebrafish embryos and larvae. EHS exhibited higher acute toxicity, causing increased mortality, hypoactive behavior at 50 mg/L, and disruptions in lipid homeostasis, while OC primarily affected hypoxia response and ...

ABSTRACT Background/Objectives Post‐inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) is a frequent sequela of acne in patients with skin of colour (SOC). While sunscreen is widely recommended for PIH prevention, little is known about real‐world sunscreen practices in this group. This study aimed to evaluate sunscreen use, barriers and factors influencing adherence

Peptide hormones - Adrenocorticotropic Hormone (ACTH)
Peptide hormones, for instance Adrenocorticotropic Hormone (ACTH, pituitary hormone), Alpha-Melanocyte-Stimulating Hormone (α-MSH, Melanocortin), Luteinizing Hormone (LH), Cholecytokinin, and Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH), measured with traditional ...

Different Responses to Two Hypothalamic Hormones in Acromegalics
It is now well established that hypothalamic hormones stimulate the release of all the known hormones from the anterior pituitary gland except prolactin which is primarily under an inhibitory influence.1 The hypothalamus also inhibits the release of ...

Is there a role for cannabidiol in obesity, metabolic syndrome and binge eating?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the most abundant phytocannabinoids isolated from the Cannabis sativa plant. CBD is a lipophilic, non‐intoxicating substance that differently from Δ9‐tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9‐THC) does not present the typical profile of a drug of abuse.

Localisation and identification of melanocyte-stimulating hormones in the fish brain
The existence of melanocyte-stimulating hormone (MSH) in fish brains was investigated by a range of techniques: radioimmunoassay, HPLC, bioassay, and immunocytochemistry.

It is now well established that GPR139, a G-protein coupled receptor exclusively expressed in the brain and pituitary, is activated by the essential amino acids L-tryptophan (L-Trp) and L-phenylalanine (L-Phe) via Gαq-coupling.

By assembling cortical‐hypothalamic circuits, we show that cortical input protects hypothalamic neurons from fatty acid‐induced damage, which activates PGC1α to boost mitochondrial function. This reveals a cortico‐hypothalamic axis that defends against metabolic stress.
