Redefining the Skin Barrier: A Microbiome‐Integrated Multilayered Defense Model

open access: yesBarrier Immunity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The skin constitutes a dynamic interface orchestrating a sophisticated multilayered defense system comprising physical, chemical, immune, and microbial barriers. This review synthesizes current understanding of the structural and functional integration of these barriers, emphasizing their synergistic interactions in maintaining cutaneous ...

Natural Melanin From Silky Fowl (Gallus gallus domesticus Brisson): Characterization and Protection of Caco‐2 Cells From Oxidative Stress via the Akt/Nrf2 Pathway

open access: yesFood Frontiers, EarlyView.
(created with BioRender.com) ABSTRACT Silky fowl, a unique chicken breed, exhibits black skin, meat, and bones due to the presence of natural melanin pigments. In our study, melanin from silky fowl (MSF) was isolated using an enzymatic extraction procedure and identified as a unique natural antioxidant.

New Insights Into Ginseng and Clove Supplementation: Alleviating Obesity by Reducing Leptin Resistance and Reshaping the Gut Microbiota

open access: yesFood Frontiers, EarlyView.
AEGC conferred substantial resistance to weight gain and reduced food intake. AEGC may alleviate LR by regulating the levels of LEP and ADP. AEGC elevated the diversity of gut microbiota and reconstructed the composition. Changes such as CAG‐873 in gut microbiota may be the reason why AEGC alleviates LR.

Optimized reconstruction of the absorption spectra of kidney tissues from the spectra of tissue components using the least squares method

open access: yesJournal of Biophotonics, EarlyView.
The absorption coefficient spectra of healthy and cancerous kidney tissues were reconstructed from the absorption spectra of tissue components using constant weights. Both reconstructions allowed to calculate the concentrations of the tissue components and a comparison between the healthy and chromophobe renal cell carcinoma kidney showed an increase ...
