Congenital melanocytic naevi

Australasian Journal of Dermatology, 2009
ABSTRACTCongenital melanocytic naevi, consisting of clusters of naevo‐melanocytes, develop in utero. Although many congenital naevi are visible at birth, some may not become evident until later in life. The timing of naevo‐melanocyte proliferation, senescence and melanogenesis may all contribute towards determining when a naevus will become clinically ...

Keratotic Melanocytic Nevus

International Journal of Dermatology, 1990
Abstract:Thirty‐five percent of 363 melanocytic nevi were found to have a keratotic epithelial architectural pattern that was mostly infundibular and not previously emphasized. Keratotic melanocytic nevi were commonly from the trunk of women, and most were associated with an intradermal melanocytic nevus.

Melanocyte Halo Explained

Ultrastructural Pathology, 1994
Electron microscopic examination was performed of skin biopsy specimens processed for electron microscopy directly after formaldehyde fixation, after retrieval from paraffin blocks, and as for paraffin embedding but with retrieval after clearing with xylene, the last step before paraffin infiltration.

Equine Melanocytic Tumors

Veterinary Clinics of North America: Equine Practice, 2013
Melanomas are among the most common skin tumors in horses, with prevalence rates reaching as high as 80% in adult gray horses. Most melanocytic tumors are benign at initial presentation; however, if left untreated, up to two-thirds can progress to overt malignant behavior.

Congenital Melanocytic Nevi

Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, 2003
Congenital nevi are characterized by the appearance of pigmented areas that range in size, shape, surface texture, and hairiness. In most cases, the nevus remains stable and benign, but because of possible malignant transformation, nevi are often excised.

Congenital Melanocytic Nevi

Clinics in Plastic Surgery
Congenital melanocytic nevi are benign neoplasms, which present early in life at various anatomic locations with a variety of clinical presentations. When evaluating large or giant nevi, it's important to use a multidisciplinary team and rule out comorbid conditions, such as neurocutaneous melanosis.

Melanocytic Conjunctival Tumors

Ophthalmology Clinics of North America, 2005
Melanocytic conjunctival tumors include a wide range of lesions that vary in their clinical and histopathologic features. Their management depends on numerous factors, including their location, focality, tumor dimensions (including depth), histopathologic characteristics, recurrences, growth, and the presence of metastasis.

Classifying Melanocytic Nevi

2012
Different types of melanocytic nevi do exist in relation to their epidemiology, evolution, morphology, genetics, and their associated melanoma risk. The introduction of dermoscopy has opened a new morphologic dimension of melanocytic nevi; this along with recent progresses in our understanding of the molecular pathways involved in the formation of nevi
