Chemical zonation in olivine-hosted melt inclusions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
International audienceSignificant zonation in major, minor, trace, and volatile elements has been documented in naturally glassy olivine-hosted melt inclusions from the Siqueiros Fracture Zone and the Galapagos Islands.

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Revealing interfacial properties and agglomeration characteristic of rare earth aluminate inclusion in molten steel

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
The formation of large, harmful rare earth (RE) inclusions in RE-containing steels is closely related to their agglomeration behavior, which is strongly influenced by the interfacial properties between inclusions and molten steel.

Peripheral lysosomes recruit PLEKHG3 to focal adhesions and restrain protrusion dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proximity‐dependent labeling at the LAMTOR complex revealed the Rho GEF PLEKHG3 as a lysosome‐proximal protein directing the study toward the influence of lysosome positioning on actin dynamics and cell motility. We show that PLEKHG3 colocalizes with lysosomes at focal adhesion sites and observe that forced peripheral dispersion of lysosomes hinders ...

In-situ observation of inclusion agglomeration characteristics in high-manganese and high-aluminum steels with different Mn and Al contents

open access: yesMaterials & Design
Elucidating the agglomeration behavior of inclusions is critical for optimizing the quality of high-manganese and high-aluminum steels. This study predicted the precipitation behavior of inclusions using thermodynamic modeling.

The inclusion removal behavior during electron beam smelting of DD98M alloy

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2022
The DD98M alloy was prepared by electron beam smelting, and the effect of electron beam smelting parameters on the inclusion removal behavior was studied. The inclusion removal thermodynamics and kinetic mechanisms were analyzed.

PHYSICO-CHEMICAL PARAMETERS OF MINERAL-FORMING PROCESSES IN PEGMATITES OF THE ILMENOGORSK ALKALINE COMPLEX (SOUTH URALS) AND ALTAI-SAYANY REGION (SOUTH SIBERIA) [PDF]

open access: yesМинералогия, 2020
The conditions of mineral formation in non-granite pegmatites of the Urals and Siberia are examined. The physico-chemical parameters of the crystallization of minerals in miaskite-pegmatites of the Ilmenogorsk alkaline complex (South Urals) and ...

Volatile diffusion in silicate melts and its effects on melt inclusions

open access: yesAnnals of Geophysics, 2005
A compendium of diffusion measurements and their Arrhenius equations for water, carbon dioxide, sulfur, fluorine, and chlorine in silicate melts similar in composition to natural igneous rocks is presented. Water diffusion in silicic melts is well studied and understood, however little data exists for melts of intermediate to basic compositions.

Survival times of anomalous melt inclusions from element diffusion in olivine and chromite

open access: yes, 2007
The chemical composition of basaltic magma erupted at the Earth’s surface is the end product of a complex series of processes, beginning with partial melting and melt extraction from a mantle source and ending with fractional crystallization and crustal

Golgi enzymes are retrieved from the plasma membrane to the trans‐Golgi network

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Golgi enzymes are traditionally considered resident proteins retained within the Golgi apparatus. Here, we demonstrate that a subset transiently reaches the cell surface and is subsequently retrieved to the trans‐Golgi network via retrograde transport. Using a nanobody‐based toolkit, we uncover a dynamic trafficking cycle of several Golgi enzymes.
