Melting of atomic materials under high pressures using computer simulations

open access: yesAdvances in Physics: X, 2023
Enormous progress has been made in high-pressure research over the last decades in both, experiments and computer simulations, many challenges still remain.

Dislocation-Mediated Melting: The One-Component Plasma Limit

open access: yes, 2000
The melting parameter $\Gamma_m$ of a classical one-component plasma is estimated using a relation between melting temperature, density, shear modulus, and crystal coordination number that follows from our model of dislocation-mediated melting. We obtain

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

THE ROLE OF MAGMATIC HEAT SOURCES IN THE FORMATION OF REGIONAL AND CONTACT METAMORPHIC AREAS IN WEST SANGILEN (TUVA, RUSSIA)

open access: yesГеодинамика и тектонофизика, 2019
The tectonomagmatic evolution of the Sangilen massif has been described in detail in numerous publications, but little attention was given to heat sources related to the HT/LP metamorphism.

Influence of re-melting on surface roughness and porosity of AlSi10Mg parts fabricated by selective laser melting

open access: yesJournal of Alloys and Compounds, 2019
Re-melting strategies with same and opposite directions to the first scanning routine were performed in AlSi10Mg parts by selective laser melting (SLM) technology.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Induction Skull Melting of Ti-6Al-4V: Process Control and Efficiency Optimization

open access: yesMetals, 2019
Titanium investment casting is one of the leading and most efficient near-net-shape manufacturing processes, since complex shape components are possible to obtain with a very low amount of material waste.

Fine-structured aluminium products with controllable texture by selective laser melting of pre-alloyed AlSi10Mg powder

open access: yes, 2013
This study shows that AlSi10Mg parts with an extremely fine microstructure and a controllable texture can be obtained through selective laser melting (SLM).

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...
