Effect of Al2O3 and CaF2 additives on the viscosity of conventional cryolite melts

open access: yesChimica Techno Acta, 2021
The viscosity of cryolite melts of conventional composition NaF–AlF3–CaF2–Al2O3 was studied by rotational viscometry using the FRS 1600 high-temperature rheometer.

Are polymer melts “ideal”? [PDF]

open access: yesComputer Physics Communications, 2007
It is commonly accepted that in concentrated solutions or melts high-molecular weight polymers display random-walk conformational properties without long-range correlations between subsequent bonds. This absence of memory means, for instance, that the bond-bond correlation function, $P(s)$, of two bonds separated by $s$ monomers along the chain should ...

Effects of water and fluorine on the viscosity of albite melt at high pressure: a preliminary investigation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
The viscosities of fluorine- and water-bearing melts based on albite composition have been determined at 7.5, 15 and 22.5 kbar by the falling-sphere method. All melt viscosities decrease isothermally with increasing pressure.

The impact of rotational grazing on biomass characteristics in boreal alluvial meadows [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Central European Agriculture
Northern Boreal alluvial meadows are semi-natural habitats that require extensive management. They also have lower productivity as compared to cultivated grasslands. The subsidies for keeping meadow habitats open are currently activity-based, not results-

Viscosity-temperature relationships in the system Na2Si2O5-Na4Al2O5 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
The viscosity-temperature relationships of five melts on the join Na2Si2O2-Na4Al2O5 (5, 10, 20, 30 and 40 mole percent Na4Al2O5) have been measured in air, at 1 atm and 1000–1350°C with a concentric cylinder viscometer.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Electrochemical oxidation of binary copper-nickel alloys in cryolite melts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Anodic oxidation of copper, nickel and two copper-nickel alloys was studied in cryolite melts at 1000°C. In an oxide-free melt, anodic dissolution of each material was observed, and the dissolution potential increases with the content of copper.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Fluorine in silicate glasses: A multinuclear nuclear magnetic resonance study [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Anhydrous nepheline, jadeite, and albite glasses doped with F as well as hydrous F-containing haplogranitic glasses were investigated using 19F combined rotation and multiple-pulse spectroscopy; 19F → 29Si cross-polarization/magic angle spinning (MAS ...
