Precision therapies for genetic epilepsies in 2025: Promises and pitfalls
Abstract By targeting the underlying etiology, precision therapies offer an exciting paradigm shift to improve the stagnant outcomes of drug‐resistant epilepsies, including developmental and epileptic encephalopathies. Unlike conventional antiseizure medications (ASMs) which only treat the symptoms (seizures) but have no effect on the underlying ...

PCSK9 inhibitors and osteoporosis: mendelian randomization and meta-analysis
Abstract Background Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) inhibitors represent an effective strategy for reducing cardiovascular disease risk. Yet, PCSK9’s impact on osteoporosis remains unclear. Hence, we employed Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis for examining PCSK9 inhibitor effects on osteoporosis.

Abstract Objective The gut microbiota (GM) plays a role in epilepsy development via the microbiota–gut–brain axis. However, its relationship with various epilepsy subtypes and its mediating role through immune cells remain unclear. Thus, identifying the GM linked to specific epilepsy subtypes and investigating immune mechanisms to predict epilepsy risk,

Periodontitis and osteoporosis: a two-sample Mendelian randomization analysis
The incidences of periodontitis and osteoporosis are rising worldwide. Observational studies have shown that periodontitis is associated with increased risk of osteoporosis. We performed a Mendelian randomization (MR) study to genetically investigate the causality of periodontitis on osteoporosis.

ABSTRACT Background and Aims Food addiction has been linked to psychopathology and reduced psychological well‐being. Here, we investigated whether these associations are mainly driven by food addiction itself or mediated via an increase in BMI. Methods Data stem from a nationwide survey from Denmark (n = 1474 participants).

DHEA and response to antidepressant treatment: A Mendelian Randomization analysis
Treatment response is hard to predict and detailed mechanisms unknown. Lower levels of the dehydroepiandrosterone sulphate (DHEA(S)) - a precursor to testosterone and estrogen - have been associated to depression and to response to antidepressant treatment. Previous studies however may have been ridden by confounding and reverse causation.
