Toxicological Studies of 2-Mercaptoethanol
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1973The toxicity of 2-mercaptoethanol, a potential reaction product between residual ethylene oxide and sulfides in rubber medical devices sterilized by ethylene oxide, was investigated. This report includes LD50 determinations for mice by both the intraperitoneal and oral routes of administration, as well as sub-chronic dosage studies.

The effect of cysteine and mercaptoethanol on plasmin
The American Journal of Cardiology, 1960Abstract Cysteine and mercaptoethanol inhibit the caseinolytic and fibrinolytic activity of plasmin. Activity losses were uniformly greater in those systems containing 1 M urea. Streptokinase action which is especially pronounced in 1 M urea is discussed.

Reactions of organylthiochloroacetylenes with ?-mercaptoethanol
Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR Division of Chemical Science, 1986The reaction of organylthiochloroacetylenes with β-mercaptoethanol in the presence of potassium hydroxide gives either organylthioethynyl 2-hydroxyethyl Sulfides or 2-(organylthiomethylene)-1,3-oxathiolanese pending on the ratio of chloroalkyne and alkali.

Mercaptoethanol protects glutathione depleted cells
Agents and Actions, 1987Buthionine sulfoximine depleted the glutathione (GSH) level of mouse lymphoma L1210A cells in culture to 6% of control and killed the cells within 48 hours in medium supplemented with fetal calf serum or bovine serum albumin. Mercaptoethanol or alpha-thioglycerol but not GSH or cysteine added to the medium protected the cells from the effect of GSH ...

Thermoluminescence of mercaptoethanol‐capped ZnS:Mn nanoparticles
Luminescence, 2014ABSTRACTThe thermoluminescence (TL) of nanoparticles has become a matter of keen interest in recent times but is rarely reported. This article reports the synthesis of ZnS:Mn nanocrystals using a chemical route, with mercaptoethanol (ME) as the capping agent.
