2-Mercaptoethanol as a substrate for liver alcohol dehydrogenase

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1977
Abstract An activity was identified in a phosphate buffer extract of calf liver acetone powder which utilized 2-mercaptoethanol and NAD + as substrates and formed NADH as one product. The activity responsible for catalyzing this reaction is associated with calf liver alcohol dehydrogenase based on copurification, similarity in pH optima, and ...

Overtone Spectra of 2-Mercaptoethanol and 1,2-Ethanedithiol

The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2010
Vibrational spectra of vapor-phase 1,2-ethanedithiol and 2-mercaptoethanol were recorded to investigate weak intramolecular interactions. The spectra were recorded with conventional absorption spectroscopy and laser photoacoustic spectroscopy in the 2000-11,000 cm(-1) region.

Potential Alteration of Tumor Microenvironments by β-Mercaptoethanol

Future Oncology, 2020
The therapeutic effectiveness of immune checkpoint inhibitors in cancer patients is quite profound. However, it is generally accepted that further progress is curtailed by accompanying adverse events and by low cure rates linked to the tumor microenvironment.

Effect of 2-mercaptoethanol on the electrodeposition of lead

Journal of Applied Electrochemistry, 1983
The morphology and the electro-kinetic parameters of lead electrodeposits on polycrystalline lead have been studied in a fluoborate bath at several current densities in the presence of known concentrations of 2-mercaptoethanol. It was observed that there was a notable decrease in the grain-size at low concentrations of the addition agent and the ...

Dissociation of Macroglobulins with 2-Mercaptoethanol

1979
Deutsch and Morton (1957) reported that sulfhydryl compounds, such as 2-mercaptoethanol, are able to dissociate IgM macroglobulins, thus reducing their 19 S sedimentation constants to 6.5 S, The reactivity of the IgM with the corresponding antigens is also abolished.
