A Nucleophilic Deprotection of Carbamate Mediated by 2-Mercaptoethanol

Organic Letters, 2022
Carbamates, typically used for the protection of amines, including Cbz, Alloc, and methyl carbamate, can be readily deprotected by treatment with 2-mercaptoethanol in the presence of potassium phosphate tribasic in N,N-dimethylacetamide at 75 °C. This nucleophilic deprotection protocol is superior to the standard hydrogenolysis or Lewis acid-mediated ...

Enhancement of antibody synthesis in vitro by mercaptoethanol

Cellular Immunology, 1972
Abstract The culture techniques described by Mishell and Dutton (1) and Marbrook (2, 3), in which a “primary” immune response can be initiated in a suspension of mouse spleen cells to heterologous erythrocyte antigens, offer great potential for analyzing cellular and molecular events involved in humoral responses. To further exploit these techniques,

Replacing β-mercaptoethanol in RNA extractions

Analytical Biochemistry, 2015
RNA extractions are potentially compromised in terms of both yield and quality by ribonucleases (RNases). The pungent and toxic reducing agent β-mercaptoethanol (β-ME), therefore, is commonly added to the biospecimen's lysis buffer to aid in RNase deactivation.

Effect of β-Mercaptoethanol on the Detection of Biotinylated Proteins

Analytical Biochemistry, 1995
Biotinylated proteins were visualized by enhanced chemiluminescence (ECL) or conventional autoradiography following sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and protein transfer onto nitrocellulose. Soaking polyacrylamide gels run under nonreducing conditions in beta-mercaptoethanol (2-ME) prior to protein transfer onto nitrocellulose ...

The radiation chemistry of 2-mercaptoethanol

Canadian Journal of Chemistry, 1985
Hydrogen, hydrogen sulphide, mercaptoethanol disulphide, and ethanol yields from the radiolysis of 2-mercaptoethanol are consistent with the same mechanism postulated for other sulphydryl-containing molecules. In all cases studied gH in neutral solution appears to be enhanced (gH = 0.7–0.9 molecule per 100 eV).

Adsorption of 2-mercaptoethanol and In(III)-2-mercaptoethanol on mercury electrodes in HClO4 + NaClO4 medium

Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry and Interfacial Electrochemistry, 1987
Abstract The surface excess of In(III)-(C2H6OS)x in HClO4+NaClO4 media on the HMDE has been determined by using the double potential step chronocoulometric technique. The adsorption of In(III) increases as the electric charge on the mercury becomes more negative. The adsorption of C2H6OS has also been determined using the method of Anson et al.

Reaction of ?-mercaptoethanol with ?-bromoacetylenic ketones

Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR Division of Chemical Science, 1979
A method was developed for obtaining 2-benzoylmethylene-1,3-dithiolanes, which is based on the reaction ofα-acetylenic ketones withβ-mercaptoethanol.

The effect of mercaptoethanol and urea on the molecular weight of hemoglobin

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1956
Abstract 1. 1. Unlike horse hemoglobin, human hemoglobin is not dissociated by concentrated urea, although its shape is considerably altered. 2. 2. Horse and human hemoglobins are equally dissociated by mercaptoethanol, and even further, but still equally, by a combination of mercaptoethanol and urea. 3. 3.

B and T lymphocyte colony formation in agar: 2-Mercaptoethanol-activated albumin can substitute for 2-mercaptoethanol

Cellular Immunology, 1979
Abstract The effect of 2-mercaptoethanol (2-ME) activated albumin (MaSF) on mouse B lymphocyte colony (BLC) formation and on human phytohemagglutinin (PHA)-induced T lymphocyte colony formation (TLC) formation in semisolid agar medium was studied. MaSF was found to stimulate colony formation comparable to the stimulation obtained with 2-ME.

Enhancement of Bovine Pancreatic Ribonuclease Activity by Mercaptoethanol

Science, 1978
Incubation of ribonuclease with 0.1 M mercaptoethanol at p H 8.5 can increase the enzyme's hydrolytic activity toward cytidine 2′,3′-monophosphate (cyclic CMP) under standard assay conditions.
