Spermidine Mitigates Immune Cell Senescence and Boosts Vaccine Responses in Healthy Older Adults—A Pilot Study

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 6, June 2026.
Can we boost vaccine responses in older adults? In a double‐blind, randomised, placebo‐controlled pilot study (n = 40, > 65 years), spermidine supplementation (6 mg/day, 13 weeks) was safe and significantly improved immune responses following a 3rd SARS‐CoV‐2 vaccine dose.

Predicting SARS‐CoV‐2 Infection With Graph Attention Capsule Networks

open access: yesComputational Intelligence, Volume 42, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Recent studies in machine learning have demonstrated the effectiveness of applying graph neural networks (GNNs) to single‐cell RNA sequencing (scRNA‐seq) data to predict COVID‐19 disease states. In this study, we propose an explainable graph attention capsule network (GACapNet), which extracts and fuses Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome ...

Comparative evaluation of noncanonical amino acids as site‐specific NMR probes for the complex of E. coli SSB with single‐stranded DNA without isotope labelling

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 293, Issue 12, Page 3601-3620, June 2026.
Genetic encoding of noncanonical amino acids (ncAA) enables their site‐specific installation in proteins. This work compares the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) performance of different ncAAs in a large protein−DNA complex (~ 100 kDa) without isotope labelling. The ncAAs deliver readily detectable NMR signals in the complex between E.

Genomic Surveillance of SARS‐CoV‐2 in Senegal (2020–2024): Variant Turnover, Omicron Introductions, and Interregional Spread

open access: yesInfluenza and Other Respiratory Viruses, Volume 20, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Genomic surveillance is central to tracking SARS‐CoV‐2 evolution, variant replacement, and transmission dynamics. In Senegal, the Institut Pasteur de Dakar generated one of the largest national longitudinal SARS‐CoV‐2 genomic datasets, offering a unique view of viral spread from the first pandemic wave to the post‐Omicron period ...

Are integrative systematic tools efficient toward unraveling species diversity with the genus Jania (Corallinaceae, Rhodophyta)?

open access: yesJournal of Phycology, Volume 62, Issue 3, Page 781-800, June 2026.
Abstract The articulated genus Jania currently comprises 54 accepted species, making it the fourth most speciose genus among corallines, following Lithophyllum, Amphiroa, and Lithothamnion. Unlike these other genera, Jania is relatively easy to identify at a generic rank. However, morpho‐anatomical characters are insufficiently discriminant for species
