This study investigates the taxonomic and functional diversity of noctuoid moths in a protected coastal dune system in Central Italy, revealing strong ecological associations between moth assemblages and dune zonation. Differences in species composition and trait attributes, along with the presence of habitat‐exclusive species, highlight the role of ...

Small protein MtrR is a regulator of the Mtr methyltransferase complex in Methanosarcina mazei. It binds specifically to the MtrA subunit and modulates Mtr activity in response to hydrogen (H2) availability. Deleting mtrR impairs growth in the presence but not absence of H2, indicating its role in directing methyl transfer toward an energy‐conserving ...

The anaerobic digestion of sugar beet pulp
World-wide there are substantial quantities of sugar beet pulp, which arises as a residue after the processing of whole beet to extract sugar for refining as a foodstuff or for use in fermentation, in particular for the production of ethanol for the ...

On the origin of synonymous codon usage divergence between thermophilic and mesophilic prokaryotes
Synonymous codon usage analysis between thermophilic and mesophilic prokaryotes has gained wide attention in recent years. Although it is known that thermophilic and mesophilic prokaryotes use different subset of synonymous codons, no reason for this ...

Polyesterase activity and thermostability of carboxylesterases from Thermoleophilum album YS‐3
Three novel α/β‐hydrolases from thermophilic bacterium Thermoleophilum album display carboxylesterase and polyesterase activity. These enzymes hydrolyse PET, PLA and PCL both at high and moderate temperatures. TA21 shows superior activity, efficiently converting MHET to terephthalic acid. Structural features underlying substrate binding highlight their

Discovery of a cryptic aminoacidic triad involved in the temperature adaptation of GH1 enzymes
Cold‐active enzymes retain high catalytic activity at low temperatures but are characterized by thermal instability, a behavior not fully understood. Comparison between a cold‐active GH1 and its mesophilic counterparts highlights the role of a three‐residue motif (W‐M‐F) in conferring structural stability to a mesophilic GH1.
