Optimizing germination and cultivation of edible halophytes using effluents from an IMTA system
Abstract BACKGROUND Halophytes offer nature‐based solutions to food insecurity and soil degradation, while their integration into integrated multi‐trophic aquaculture (IMTA) systems promotes circular economy practices. This study aimed to optimize the germination and cultivation of edible halophytic species, namely Limbarda crithmoides, Suaeda vera and

Abstract BACKGROUND The aim of this work was to characterize the polyphenolic profile of encapsulated purple sweet potato peel extract (PSPPE), to assess the effects of its addition (1.5 and 3 g L−1) on the color, texture, microbiological quality, microstructure, and sensory attributes of fresh goat cheese, and to monitor the polyphenolic profile and ...

Anaerobic treatment of proteinaceous wastewater under mesophilic and thermophilic conditions
Experiments were conducted in two 2.8 liter UASB (upflow anaerobic sludge blanket) reactors treating proteinaceous wastewaters at 37° and 55°C with 9 hours of hydraulic retention. Results showed that the mesophilic reactor consistently removed 83.5-85.1%

DNA interference by a mesophilic Argonaute protein, CbcAgo [PDF]
Background : The search for putative enzymes that can facilitate gene editing has recently focused its attention on Argonaute proteins from prokaryotes (pAgos). Though they are structural homologues of human Argonaute protein, which uses RNA guides to interfere with RNA targets, pAgos use ssDNA guides to ...

Abstract Background Studies show increased use of home enteral nutrition (HEN) owing to its benefits. However, knowledge about the sanitary risks of handling home‐prepared formulas remains limited despite their high contamination rates. This study aimed to assess the sanitary risks in the handling of home‐prepared enteral formulations by analyzing ...
