Mesophilic and thermophilic biotreatment of BTEX-polluted air in reactors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This study compares the removal of a mixture of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and all three xylene isomers (BTEX) in mesophilic and thermophilic (50°C) bioreactors.

PERITRICHOUS FLAGELLA IN MESOPHILIC STRAINS OF AEROMONAS

open access: yesJapanese Journal of Medical Science and Biology, 1985
A total of 186 mesophilic strains of Aeromonas, comprising 151 A. hydrophila and 35 A. caviae, were tested for peritrichous flagella by Leifson's staining method. When incubated on solid medium for 18 hr at 22 C, peritrichous flagella were demonstrated in 28 (18.5%) of the 151 strains of A. hydrophila and in 6 (17.1%) of the 35 strains of A.

Hsp70 diversification and repurposing across the tree of life: Lessons from the evolutionary and mechanistic trajectory of the Hsp70–Hsp110 chaperone system

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Evolutionary and mechanistic divergence in the Hsp70–Hsp110 chaperone system. Prokaryotic Hsp70s probably diversified into multiple orthologues that cooperated with co‐chaperones such as JDPs and NEF, forming increasingly complex proteostasis networks.

Effect of Biochar on Methane Production and Structural Characteristics in the Anaerobic Digestion (AD) of Rape Straw

open access: yesBioResources, 2022
This study investigated the mesophilic and thermophilic anaerobic fermentation of rape straw with biochar addition. The effects of biochar on the biogas yield, degradation of lignocellulose, bacterial community, and crystallinity were explored.

Contribution of the Oligomeric State to the Thermostability of Isoenzyme 3 from Candida rugosa

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2018
Thermophilic proteins have evolved different strategies to maintain structure and function at high temperatures; they have large, hydrophobic cores, and feature increased electrostatic interactions, with disulfide bonds, salt-bridging, and surface ...

Moderate‐Temperature Hydrothermal Treatment Removes Detectable DNA and Antibiotic Resistance Genes From Municipal Sludge While Preserving Resource Value

open access: yesWater and Environment Journal, EarlyView.
This graphical abstract shows the overall study design where dewatered wastewater sludge samples were collected and subjected to a range of HT temperatures. Measurement of nucleic acid concentration and antibiotic resistance gene profiles across temperatures showed that HT at moderate temperatures offers sustainable, scalable sludge sanitation and ARG ...

Dry Cleaning and Post‐Cleaning Strategies in Food Processing Facilities: A Scoping Review

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Effective dry cleaning and post‐cleaning treatments are essential for maintaining food safety in dry‐food processing environments where water use must be minimized. This scoping review mapped and synthesized empirical research on minimal‐water cleaning methods applied to industrial surfaces, focusing on their efficacy against microbial and ...

Batch mesophilic anaerobic digestions of potato wastewaters

open access: yes, 1989
Information on the effect of types of potato wastewaters upon the performance of an anaerobic treatment system is lacking at this time. The objective of this study is to investigate the feasibility of the batch, mesophilic, anaerobic digestion process in
