Isolation of Arabidopsis Palisade and Spongy Mesophyll Cells
Methods in Molecular Biology, 2018Cell-type-specific transcription factors are key to deducing the distinct functions of specialized cells from gene expression profiles. Mesophyll is a major tissue for photosynthesis, and contributes about 80% of total RNA from leaves. Palisade and spongy mesophyll cells are sub-tissues that have different morphologies and physiologies.

Kranz cells and mesophyll in the Chenopodiales
Australian Journal of Botany, 1978Kranz anatomies found in members of the order Chenopodiales are described except those found in the family Chenopodiaceae which have been described previously. Illustrations are provided of the gross anatomy of the leaf and of the ultrastructure of the Kranz cells.

The control of chloroplast number in wheat mesophyll cells
Planta, 1987Chloroplast number per cell and mesophyll cell plan area were determined in populations of separated cells from the primary leaves of different wheat species representing three levels of ploidy. Mean chloroplast number per cell increases with ploidy level as mean cell size increases.

Direct Embryogenesis from Mesophyll Cells of Orchardgrass
Science, 1983Segments taken from the basal 15 to 20 millimeters of the two innermost leaves of an orchardgrass ( Dactylis glomerata L.) genotype produced somatic (nonzygotic) embryos directly from mesophyll cells without an intervening callus when cultured on an agar medium with 30 micromolar 3,6-dichloro- o
