The maize BTB/POZ‐MATH (BPM) protein ZmBPM1 interacts with autophagy‐related protein ZmATG6 to relocate the NLR protein Rp1‐D21 from the nucleo‐cytoplasmic compartment into autophagosome‐like puncta, leading to autophagy‐mediated turnover and suppressing the hypersensitive response.

Herbivory‐Induced Stomatal Opening Triggers the Dispersal of an Invasive Insect Herbivore
The invasive leafminer Phthorimaea absoluta uniquely manipulates plant defenses by inducing stomatal opening in tomato. This response, mediated by the stomatal regulator IQM1, enhances the release of the repellent volatile benzaldehyde. This volatile triggers the dispersal of adult moths, facilitates colonization of new hosts, and leads to rapid ...

Smart Bioinks for 4D Bioprinting: Requirements, Design, and Applications
Smart bioinks empower 4D‐bioprinted constructs to dynamically adapt and remodel in response to stimuli, effectively biomimicking native tissues. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) play a guiding role in their rational design by optimizing relevant properties.

Blue Light Receptor PHR2‐Mediated Spectrum Antiviral Immunity
Blue light suppresses RBSDV through the blue‐light receptor ZmPHR2, which interacts with ZmISP in chloroplasts to trigger ROS burst and antiviral defense. The viral effector P6 enhances ZmPHR2–ZmISP interaction, alters their distribution, and suppresses ROS.

Abstract Premise Given the threats of climate change, we investigated the impact of high temperatures separately and in combination with reduced soil water on leaf heat tolerance for five oaks (Fagaceae) with overlapping ranges in southern California, USA: Quercus agrifolia and Q. chrysolepis (evergreen species), Q. douglasii and Q.

Genetic switch to lower nitrogen fertilizer dependency and enhance maize yield
Transcription factor NCR1 regulates nitrate transporter NRT2.3 and controls root‐to‐shoot nitrogen transport. A superior NCR1 haplotype, lost in modern maize breeding, boosts this process. This discovery enables breeding and biotechnology to develop high‐yielding maize varieties that require less nitrogen fertilizer, reducing agricultural costs and ...

Chloroplasts, mitochondria, and peroxisomes form clusters in mesophyll cells of rice (Oryza sativa)
Chloroplasts, mitochondria, and peroxisomes are consistently positioned in close proximity with physical contact in mesophyll cells, as shown by two-dimensional transmission electron microscopy observations.

Perls–TEM–STEM‐HAADF–EDS enables high‐resolution localization and elemental characterization of Fe‐containing deposits in Rhizophora mangle leaf cells. ABSTRACT Mangrove ecosystems are frequently exposed to high concentrations of iron (Fe) in sediments, resulting in Fe accumulation in plant tissues. Although Fe is an essential micronutrient involved in

The Evolutionary Basis of Naturally Diverse Rice Leaves Anatomy. [PDF]
Rice contains genetically and ecologically diverse wild and cultivated species that show a wide variation in plant and leaf architecture. A systematic characterization of leaf anatomy is essential in understanding the dynamics behind such diversity ...
