ULTRASTRUCTURAL CHANGES IN ORIZA SATIVA, Echinochloa colonum AND Echinochloa crus-galli TREATED WITH FENOXAPROP-P-ETHYL AND PENOXSULAM HERBICIDES. [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Plant Protection and Pathology, 2012
Cytological changes in rice Oriza sativa (L.) cv. Sakha 104, and two different rice weeds i.e. Echinochloa colonum (L.) and Echinochoa crus-galli (L.) after foliar application with fenoxaprop-P-ethyl at rate of 26.25 g a.i /fed.

A Mechanosensitive Anion Channel in Arabidopsis thaliana Mesophyll Cells [PDF]

open access: yesPlant and Cell Physiology, 2004
Mechanosensitive ion channels are expected to play important roles in transducing mechanical stimuli into intracellular signals during the development and morphogenesis of higher plants. We have identified a novel mechanosensitive anion channel in the protoplast of Arabidopsis thaliana mesophyll cells by using the patch-clamp technique.

Intracellular position of mitochondria and chloroplasts in bundle sheath and mesophyll cells of C3 grasses in relation to photorespiratory CO2 loss

open access: yesPlant Production Science, 2016
In C3 plants, photosynthetic efficiency is reduced by photorespiration. A part of CO2 fixed during photosynthesis in chloroplasts is lost from mitochondria during photorespiration by decarboxylation of glycine by glycine decarboxylase (GDC).

Higher CO2 Assimilation in Selected Rice Recombinant Inbred Lines Is Driven by Higher CO2 Diffusion and Light Use Efficiency Related to Leaf Anatomy and Mesophyll Cell Density

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
Leaf anatomy determining the light distribution within the leaf and exerting influence on CO2 diffusion is considered to have dramatic potential for photosynthesis performance increase.

Ion‐specific mechanisms of osmoregulation in bean mesophyll cells [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Botany, 2000
Transient kinetics of net H+, K+, Ca2+, and Cl- fluxes were measured non-invasively, using an ion-selective microelectrode technique, for bean (Vicia faba L.) leaf mesophyll in response to 150 mM mannitol treatment. In a parallel set of experiments, changes in the plasma membrane potential and the total proline content in leaves were monitored ...

Sudden collapse of vacuoles in Saintpaulia sp. palisade cells induced by a rapid temperature decrease. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
It is well known that saintpaulia leaf is damaged by the rapid temperature decrease when cold water is irrigated onto the leaf surface. We investigated this temperature sensitivity and the mechanisms of leaf damage in saintpaulia (Saintpaulia sp.

Cell lineage analysis of maize bundle sheath and mesophyll cells

open access: yesDevelopmental Biology, 1989
Maize leaves are divided into repeated longitudinal units consisting of vascular tissue, bundle sheath (BS), and mesophyll (M) cells. We have carried out a cell lineage analysis of these cell types using six spontaneous striping mutants of maize. We show that certain cell division patterns are preferentially utilized, but not required, to form the ...

Protein Phosphorylation — Dephosphorylation in the Cytosol of Pea Mesophyll Cells [PDF]

open access: yesZeitschrift für Naturforschung C, 1986
Abstract Soluble protein kinase and protein phosphatase activities were localized in the cytosol of pea mesophyll cells using protoplasts fractionation techniques. The molecular weights of the phosphorylated cytosolic proteins, as determined by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, were 68, 55, 46, 38, 36, 30, 22 and 12 kDa.

A high-throughput quantitative method to evaluate peroxisome-chloroplast interactions in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
Organelles contribute to plant growth via their movements and interactions, which ensure efficient metabolic flow and help plants adapt to environmental stress.

Abscisic Acid and Photosynthesis in Isolated Leaf Mesophyll Cell [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1981
Abscisic acid (AbA) treatments of concentrations of up to 135 micromolar did not inhibit photosynthesis in enzymatically isolated leaf mesophyll cells of Phaseolus vulgaris, Nicotiana tabacum, and Lycopersicum esculentum over periods of up to 5 hours.
