Metabolic stability of messenger ribonucleoprotein in HeLa cells

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Nucleic Acids and Protein Synthesis, 1975
The proteins bound to HeLa cell polyribosomal messenger RNA were isolated by subjecting salt-washed, puromycin-disassembled polyribosomes to a limited digestion with pancreatic ribonuclease (ref. 1, Auerbach, S. and Pederson, T. (1975) Biochem. Biophys. Res. Commun. 63, 149-153). Label-chase experiments with radioactive amino acids revealed that the in

Chemical stability and metabolic utilization of asparagine peptides

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1955
Abstract l -Leucyl- l -asparagine and l -asparaginyl- l -leucine are utilized as well as l -asparaginylglycine and glycyl- l -asparagine by Leuc. mesenteroides . The growth response to these peptides approximates that to l -aspartic acid and is far superior to that to l -asparagine.

Enzyme heterozygosity, metabolism, and developmental stability

Genetica, 1993
Developmental homeostasis, measured as either fluctuating asymmetry or variance of morphological characters, increases with enzyme heterozygosity in many, but not all, natural populations. These results have been reported forDrosophila, monarch butterflies, honeybees, blue mussels, side-blotched lizards, killifish, salmonid fishes, guppies, Sonoran ...

Metabolically Stabilized Benzothiazoles for Imaging of Amyloid Plaques

Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2007
Six new N-11C-labeled aminophenylbenzothiazoles substituted with fluorine in different positions have been synthesized and evaluated as amyloid-beta binding ligands. Our structure-property relationship studies show that the substitution pattern of the phenyl ring and the benzothiazole moiety has an influence on the metabolic stability, which in turn ...

Metabolic Transitions and Muscle Metabolic Stability: Effects of Exercise Training

2019
In this chapter we present the mechanisms underlying oxygen uptake kinetics in humans. We provide evidence that the time constant of the primary component of the VYO2 on-kinetics and the magnitude of the slow component can be considered as indirect markers of the muscle metabolic stability during exercise.

A metabolic view of the diversity–stability relationship

Journal of Theoretical Biology, 2008
A theoretical analysis of the "portfolio effect" expressed in metabolic terms indicates that the coefficient of variation of total biomass in the ecosystem is influenced by three factors: metabolic diversity, total population size and organism biomass (body mass).

Regulation of ErbB-2 Metabolic Stability

2004
Abstract : This grant has focused on the mechanism by which geldanamycin controls the metabolic stability of ErbB-2, a co-receptor tyrosine kinase. ErbB-2 is overexpressed in breast cancer and is known to increase cell proliferation. Geldanamycin decreases ErbB-2 levels in cells and is in clinical trials for the treatment of breast cancer.

Glutamine Metabolism in Atherosclerotic Plaque Stability

Heart attacks and strokes are late-stage complications of rupture of unstable atherosclerotic plaques. Stable plaques contain stabilizing matrix-producing fibrotic cells, a majority of which are derived from smooth muscle cells (SMCs). The molecular drivers of SMC phenotypic transitions to beneficial fibrotic or destabilizing inflammatory and ...
