THE METABOLIC STABILITY OF NUCLEIC ACIDS IN ESCHERICHIA COLI
Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1956P32incorporated in ribo- and desoxyribo-nucleic acids during multiplication of Escherichia coli was retained there as nucleotide phosphorus during subsequent generations. There was little or no unequal exchange of P32between the nucleotides of either nucleic acid during bacterial multiplication.

Stability of basal metabolic rate on a polar expedition
Journal of Applied Physiology, 1961The basal metabolism studied in 29 young adults on 349 occasions over 2 years in the Arctic was 37.4 (sd α 3.7) kcal/m-2/hr-1, and well within the normal British standards. The variability showed no relationship to season. On polar expeditions, men's physiologically significant exposure to cold is small because of efficient protection by clothing and ...

Metabolic regulation of genome stability
Science, 2017DNA Replication Cells respond to metabolic fluctuations by adjusting the speed of DNA replication as a safeguard for genome stability. Somyajit et al. elucidate the cellular mechanisms that align replication fork dynamics with metabolic pathways (see the Perspective by Gomez-Gonzalez and Aguilera).

The effect of auxin concentration on cytokinin stability and metabolism
Planta, 1988The stability of [(3)H]zeatin riboside supplied to freshly excised tobacco pith explants was found to be inversely related to α-naphthaleneacetic acid concentration in the incubation medium. At higher concentrations of α-naphthaleneacetic acid greater breakdown of [(3)H]zeatin riboside was indicated by higher levels of degradative metabolites (adenine,

Chemical stability and metabolic utilization of asparagine peptides
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1955Abstract l -Leucyl- l -asparagine and l -asparaginyl- l -leucine are utilized as well as l -asparaginylglycine and glycyl- l -asparagine by Leuc. mesenteroides . The growth response to these peptides approximates that to l -aspartic acid and is far superior to that to l -asparagine.
