Fungal Metabolites

2017
This handbook compiles authoritative information about fungal metabolites and their chemistry and biotechnology. The first in the reference work series “Phytochemicals”, and written by a team of international expert authors, this book provides reference information ranging from the description of fungal natural products, over their use e.g.

Transport of Metabolites

Protoplasma, 1967
Transport phenomena have a fundamental role in cellular activity. The evidence of a limiting barrier is given by the fact that the content of living cells differs from that of the medium. In most cases the concentration of K+ in the cell is ten or more times higher than that of Na+, even in cells immersed in a medium where Na+ concentration exceeds K+.

Morphine metabolites

Acta Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, 1997
Morphine is a potent opioid analgesic widely used for the treatment of acute pain and for long‐term treatment of severe pain. Morphine is a member of the morphinan‐framed alkaloids, which are present in the poppy plant. The drug is soluble in water, but its solubility in lipids is poor.In man, morphine‐3‐glucuronide (M3G) and morphine‐6‐glucu‐ronide ...

Microalgal metabolites

Current Opinion in Microbiology, 1993
The extraordinary chemical diversity seen in the cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) is especially pronounced in the ubiquitous tropical marine species, Lyngbya majuscula. The gene clusters responsible for the production of some of the secondary metabolites have recently been elucidated.

Metabolites of Phencyclidine

Clinical Toxicology, 1976
The results of the animal experiment demonstrate that oxidative hydroxylation is the major mode of metabolism of phencyclidine. It is evident that this process takes place in all three rings of the molecule. Hydroxylation of the piperidyl moiety probably also accounts for the formation of the N-dealkylated metabolites.

Bioactive acetylenic metabolites

Phytomedicine, 2013
This article focuses on anticancer, and other biological activities of acetylenic metabolites obtained from plants and fungi. Acetylenic compounds belong to a class of molecules containing triple bond(s). Naturally occurring acetylenics are of particular interest since many of them display important biological activities and possess antitumor ...

Mitochondrial metabolite transport

Essays in Biochemistry, 2010
The flux of a variety of metabolites, nucleotides and coenzymes across the inner membrane of mitochondria is catalysed by a nuclear-coded superfamily of secondary transport proteins called MCs (mitochondrial carriers). The importance of MCs is demonstrated by their wide distribution in all eukaryotes, their role in numerous metabolic pathways and cell ...
