Prediction of methane emission from sheep based on data measured in vivo from open-circuit respiratory studies [PDF]

open access: yesAsian-Australasian Journal of Animal Sciences, 2019
Objective The current study analysed the relationships between methane (CH4) output from animal and dietary factors. Methods The dataset was obtained from 159 Dorper×thin-tailed Han lambs from our seven studies, and CH4 production and energy metabolism ...

Production and nutritional composition of two annual ryegrass cultivars (Diploid and Tetraploid) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The feed cost represents the major cost in milk production. Direct grazing and forage produced on the dairy farm could allow the farmer to a better feed production cost control. Ryegrass have been extensively used for grazing and forage production.

True Metabolizable Energy of Corn Fractions

open access: yesJournal of Applied Poultry Research, 1994
Abstract A series of studies was conducted to determine the relative metabolizable energy content of whole corn kernels, broken corn (BC), and foreign material (FM). Samples of yellow corn were obtained from eight different trains and separated into the three fractions which were assayed for proximate composition and nitrogen corrected true ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Pengaruh pemberian aditif cair buah naga merah (Hylocereus polyrhizus) terhadap kecernaan proein, energi metabolis dan produksi telur burung puyuh

open access: yesJurnal Ilmu-Ilmu Peternakan, 2015
The study was aimed to evaluate the effect of liquid additive red dragon fruit as the addition of drinking water on the digestibility of protein, metabolizable energy and the production of quail eggs.

An Evaluation of the True Metabolizable Energy Assay for Monitoring the Apparent Metabolizable Energy Values of Poultry Diets

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1981
Samples of 35 diets were obtained from five different regions of Canada. The true metabolizable energy (TME) of these diets was measured with mature White Leghorn cockerels. The N-corrected apparent metabolizable energy (MEn) values, calculated from average analysis figures, were supplied by the feed manufacturers.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Comparative efficacy of synthetic and herbal emulsifiers in broiler chicken fed energy-restricted diet

open access: yesIndian Journal of Animal Sciences, 2023
The digestive system of young birds is very poor and inefficient in digestion and absorption of fat due to less lipase production and low rate of bile formation, which can be overcome by the use of exogenous emulsifier.

Apparent Metabolizable Energy of Glycerin for Broiler Chickens

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2008
Three energy balance experiments were conducted to determine AMEn of glycerin using broiler chickens of diverse ages. In experiment 1, two dietary treatments were fed from 4 to 11 d of age. Dietary treatments consisted of a control diet (no added glycerin) and a diet containing 6% glycerin (94% control diet + 6% glycerin).
