Inclusion of leucaena leaf hay in the diet of laying hens during the growing phase

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Animal Sciences, 2014
Current experiment evaluated the effects of inclusion of leucaena leaf hay (LLH) on the performance and nutrient digestibility of diets for laying hens during the growth phase (14-18 weeks).

Comparative efficacy of synthetic and herbal emulsifiers in broiler chicken fed energy-restricted diet

open access: yesIndian Journal of Animal Sciences, 2023
The digestive system of young birds is very poor and inefficient in digestion and absorption of fat due to less lipase production and low rate of bile formation, which can be overcome by the use of exogenous emulsifier.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Energy and protein requirements of crossbred Holstein x Zebu steers fed different levels of calcium and phosphorus in the diet

open access: yesSemina: Ciências Agrárias, 2016
The aim of this study was to determine the energy and protein requirements of crossbred Holstein x Zebu steers fed with or without the supplementation of dicalcium phosphate in the diet. Thirty-two steers with an average initial body weight of 377.5 ± 49.

Production and nutritional composition of two annual ryegrass cultivars (Diploid and Tetraploid) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The feed cost represents the major cost in milk production. Direct grazing and forage produced on the dairy farm could allow the farmer to a better feed production cost control. Ryegrass have been extensively used for grazing and forage production.

True Metabolizable Energy of Feather Meal

open access: yesJournal of Applied Poultry Research, 1992
Abstract Feather meal has a higher energy content than indicated by U. S. tables of nutrient composition. Fifteen samples of hydrolyzed poultry feathers obtained from commercial channels were evaluated for proximate composition and true metabolizable energy (TMEN) content.
