Effect of Oligosaccharide Additions on Nitrogen-Corrected True Metabolizable Energy of Soy Protein Concentrate

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1993
In order to determine TMEn response to individual saccharide moieties, five different sugar additions were made to a soy protein concentrate control that contained low levels of oligosaccharides. The sugar additions to the control were made to approximate the amounts of raffinose, stachyose, and sucrose found in soybean meal (SBM).

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Estimates of nutritional requirements and use of Small Ruminant Nutrition System model for hair sheep in semiarid conditions

open access: yesSemina: Ciências Agrárias, 2014
The objective was to determine the efficiency of utilization of metabolizable energy for maintenance (km) and weight gain (kf), the dietary requirements of total digestible nutrients (TDN) and metabolizable protein (MP), as well as, evaluate the Small ...

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

Pre- and postpartum metabolizable protein supply: I. Effects on feed intake, lactation performance, and metabolic markers in transition dairy cows

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science
: The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of increasing MP supply in the prepartum, postpartum, or both diets on intake, performance, and metabolic indicators.

Comparison of fresh and ensiled white and red clover added to ryegrass on energy and protein utilization of lactating cows [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Two respiratory chamber experiments were conducted with dairy cows to compare metabolizable energy and protein utilization when feeding white or red clover with ryegrass. In experiment 1, fresh ryegrass was mixed with fresh white (WF) or red clover (RF) (

The Effect of Antioxidant Treatment on the Metabolizable Energy and Protein Value of Herring Meal

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1965
Abstract THE nutritive value of fish meal may decline following storage because of oxidative changes affecting the lipid fraction and changes which are little understood affecting the availability of some of the amino acids in the protein fraction. The literature in this connection has been reviewed elsewhere (March, 1962).

Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...
