Metadata Made Easy: Develop and Use Domain‐Specific Metadata Schemes by following the dmdScheme approach

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2021
Metadata plays an essential role in the long‐term preservation, reuse, and interoperability of data. Nevertheless, creating useful metadata can be sufficiently difficult and weakly enough incentivized that many datasets may be accompanied by little or no

Single‐cell transcriptomics redefines focal neuroendocrine differentiation as a distinct prostate cancer pathology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single‐cell transcriptomics of prostate cancer patient‐derived xenografts reveals distinct features of neuroendocrine (NE) subtypes. Tumours with focal NE differentiation (NED) share transcriptional programmes with adenocarcinoma, differing from large and small cell neuroendocrine prostate cancer (NEPC). Our work defines the molecular landscape of NEPC,

Identifying prognostic targets in metastatic prostate cancer beyond AR

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Genome‐wide functional screens combined with a large gene expression database and clinical outcomes can identify new therapeutic vulnerabilities in prostate cancer. Eight potentially druggable targets demonstrated strong dependency in cell lines, were associated with worse prognosis clinically, and showed evidence of protein expression in prostate ...

Metadata and Reuse: Antidotes to Information Entropy

open access: yesPatterns, 2020
Entropy is the natural tendency for decline toward disorder over time. Information entropy is the decline in data, information, and understanding that occurs after data are used and results are published. As time passes, the information slowly fades into

Genetic diversity and population structure of the Taigan dog breed

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The Taigan is a rare sighthound from the mountains of Kyrgyzstan. We used DNA markers to study its genetic diversity and compare it with other sighthound breeds. Our findings show that the Taigan shares close genetic ties with the Kazakh Tazy, suggesting a common ancestry shaped by nomadic traditions and regional adaptation.
