Reconstruction of Metagenome-Assembled Microbial Genomes from a Micro-biome (Poster)

open access: yes, 2018
Microbiome/host interactions describe characteristics that affect the host health; shotgun metagenomics sequences microbiome samples, allowing us to analyze its taxonomic and metabolic potential.

Metagenomics Reveals Microbial Community Shifts Associated With Contrasting Anthropogenic Impacts in Freshwater Sources of A Coastal Protected Area in Southeastern Brazil

open access: yesWater Environment Research, Volume 98, Issue 9, September 2026.
Metagenomics revealed distinct anthropogenic signatures in the microbiome of freshwater sources on Marambaia Island, supported by the Anthropogenic Impact Index (AII). Impacted sites showed lower microbial diversity, enrichment of fecal‐associated taxa, and 14 antimicrobial resistance genes, whereas conductivity, salinity, and turbidity explained 88.1%

Brine Pool Microbes Enrich Metalliferous Sediments in Salt Giant Basins

open access: yesAGU Advances, Volume 7, Issue 6, September 2026.
Abstract We report the discovery of an extinct deep‐sea brine pool in the Red Sea's Hume Deep, providing evidence that rift‐shoulder pools are ephemeral on millennial timescales, and that the microbially‐enriched metalliferous deposits produced during the pool's active phase persist into the stratigraphic record.

Atmospheric Microbial Transport to Antarctica and Its Ecological Implications: A Systematic Review

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 28, Issue 9, September 2026.
Atmospheric transport to Antarctica operates via long‐range advection, marine aerosolization, and local resuspension, acting as a strict ecological filter. This selective barrier could actively shape local ecosystems by seeding them with functionally distinct, stress‐adapted microbial pioneers capable of surviving extreme conditions.

Genomes from uncultivated prokaryotes: a comparison of metagenome-assembled and single-amplified genomes [Elektronisk resurs]

open access: yes
Background: Prokaryotes dominate the biosphere and regulate biogeochemical processes essential to all life. Yet, our knowledge about their biology is for the most part limited to the minority that has been successfully cultured.

Amylosucrase as a Versatile Biocatalyst for Next‐Generation Functional Ingredients: Starch Modification and Glycoside Synthesis

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 5, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Amylosucrase (ASase, E.C. 2.4.1.4) is a transglucosidase that catalyzes α‐glucan synthesis and transglycosylation reactions using sucrose as the sole substrate. Unlike Leloir glycosyltransferases requiring expensive nucleotide sugars, ASases utilize readily available sucrose as a cost‐effective glucose donor, offering economic advantages for ...
