Comparison of the DNBSEQ platform and Illumina HiSeq 2000 for bacterial genome assembly

open access: yesScientific Reports
The Illumina HiSeq platform has been a commonly used option for bacterial genome sequencing. Now the BGI DNA nanoball (DNB) nanoarrays platform may provide an alternative platform for sequencing of bacterial genomes.

The chromosome-level genome sequences of the freshwater sponge, Spongilla lacustris (Linnaeus, 1759) and the chlorophyte cobiont Choricystis sp., and the associated microbial metagenome sequences [version 1; peer review: 2 approved]

open access: yesWellcome Open Research
We present a genome assembly from an individual Spongilla lacustris (freshwater sponge; Porifera; Demospongiae; Spongillida; Spongillidae). The genome sequence is 248.7 megabases in span.

Mapping the omics landscape for peri‐implant diseases: A scoping review

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives To map omics evidence across peri‐implant health, peri‐implant mucositis, and peri‐implantitis, and to identify recurring molecular patterns and candidate biomarker signals relevant to diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment. Materials and Methods This scoping review included human studies using genomics, DNA methylation–based ...

A multi‐omics investigation of sarcopenia and frailty: Integrating genomic, epigenomic and telomere length data

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Sarcopenia and frailty are complex geriatric syndromes influenced by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Recent studies suggest that specific genetic variants, DNA methylation patterns and shortened telomeres are associated with age‐related diseases and might contribute to the development of both sarcopenia and frailty. In this

Metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) from biofloc microbiota.

open access: yes
We recovered over 500 metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) from the floc-associated microbiota of commercial biofloc aquaculture systems. These MAGs were then functionally annotated to understand the metabolic potential.
