A novel embedded voltage‐clamped circuit for multilevel modular converters submodule to suppress very fast transient overvoltage

open access: yesHigh Voltage
The submodule in multilevel modular converters experiences a very fast transient overvoltage (VFTO) during switch operation of gas‐insulated switchgear, which also results in overvoltage on power devices, such as thyristors and insulated gate bipolar ...

Varistor coupling method and recommendation parameters for combination wave test

open access: yesIET Science, Measurement &Technology, Volume 17, Issue 7, Page 277-286, September 2023., 2023
Low‐voltage varistors are adopted here in the OrCAD/PSpice environment to analyze the influence of varistor coupling on the output characteristic of the combination wave generator (CWG). Experiments have also been conducted here, and our simulation results are found to match the experimental ones well.

A three‐stage switching MMC topology for capacitor voltage ripple reduction in HVDC applications

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission &Distribution, Volume 17, Issue 13, Page 2953-2962, July 2023., 2023
Here, the three‐stage switching MMC (TSS‐MMC) topology is proposed, which can greatly reduce the capacitor voltage ripple of sub modules (SMs) by dynamically adjusting the position of inductance on the upper and down bridge arms. The effectiveness and engineering practicability of the proposed TSS‐MMC is verified by transient simulation program built ...

Influence of UHV GIL access on transient recovery voltage of circuit breaker

open access: yes电力工程技术, 2022
The access of ultra high voltage (UHV) gas-insulated transmission line (GIL) affects both the transient recovery voltage (TRV) amplitude and the rate of rise of TRV (RRRV) of circuit breakers, which may endanger the breaking capacity of circuit breakers ...
