Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Composites Obtained by Spark Plasma Sintering of Al–Fe66Cr10Nb5B19 Metallic Glass Powder Mixtures

open access: yesMetals, 2021
At present, metallic glasses are evaluated as alternative reinforcements for aluminum matrix composites. These composites are produced by powder metallurgy via consolidation of metallic glass-aluminum powder mixtures.

Innovative Processing of Compacted Waste Aluminum Alloy Powders via Controlled Remelting and Solidification

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an efficient recycling route for out‐of‐spec AlSi10Mg atomized powders through compaction and arc remelting followed by suction casting. By correlating compaction load, cooling rate, and resulting microstructure, we show that intermediate pressures (50–80 kN) and rapid cooling refine dendrites, reduce porosity, and enhance ...

Interactions between Molten High‐Silicon Electrical Steels and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how several molten high‐silicon electrical steels interact with both conventional and recycled MgO–C refractories. For this, various immersion experiments are conducted. In addition to infiltration, a number of mechanisms are identified and explained that control the corrosion of the refractory material.

Enhancing the deep drawing process by predicting damage initiation and progression using the anisotropic Lemaitre damage model

open access: yesMaterials Research Express
The originality of the approach proposed in this work lies in the integration of the effect of plastic anisotropy on the initiation and propagation of ductile damage via the modified Lemaitre damage model.

Development of binder system for manufacturing metallic and ceramic parts by Powder Injection Molding technology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The technology is used by manufacturing companies of metallic and ceramic parts. The PIM companies have an important problem: they have to use a patented feedstock. This fact causes an increasing of the cost of final product.

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

Optimizing thermoelectric generator performance in blast furnace slag Runners: Impact of cooling water flow velocity and enhanced heat transfer

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
Blast Furnace (BF) slag contains substantial thermal energy, yet significant heat is lost as it flows through the Blast Furnace Slag Runner (BFSR), reducing slag fluidity and resulting in considerable energy waste.
