The Lymph Node Pre-Metastatic Niche

Journal of Molecular Medicine, 2015
Lymph node metastases occur frequently during the progression of many types of cancer, and their presence often reflects poor prognosis. The drainage of tumor-derived factors such as antigens, growth factors, cytokines, and exosomes through the lymphatic system to the regional lymph nodes plays an important role in the pre-metastatic conditioning of ...

Limited Lymph Node Dissection and Metastatic Lymph Node Ratio: A Wave of Trust

World Journal of Surgery, 2010
To the Editor Metastatic lymph node ratio has been closely investigated in recent years because of its simplicity, reproducibility, and potential advantage of reducing the ‘‘stage migration’’ phenomenon in gastric cancer staging. Several authors, along with our experience, identified the lymph node ratio classification as an independent prognostic ...

Metastatic lymph node ratio versus number of metastatic lymph nodes as a prognostic factor in gastric cancer

European Journal of Surgical Oncology (EJSO), 2012
Knowledge of prognostic factors in gastric cancer is essential to decide on single patient management. We aim to establish the value of lymph node ratio compared to lymph node involvement in the prediction of gastric cancer survival and treatment approach.Charts of ninety-six consecutive patients undergoing gastrectomy for resectable gastric cancer ...

Adenocarcinoma of the uterine cervix metastatic to lymph nodes

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1998
We set out to evaluate the prognostic factors in cervical adenocarcinoma metastatic to lymph nodes. We performed a retrospective review of 40 patients with cervical adenocarcinoma and lymph node metastasis from 1976 to 1996.Thirty-four patients had adenocarcinoma, and six had adenosquamous carcinoma. Median survival was 50 months.
