Efficient conversion of organic waste to biogas depends on the coordinated optimization of feedstock composition, pretreatment, operational parameters, reactor design, and microbial community dynamics. This review highlights how these interacting factors improve methane yield and process stability, advancing anaerobic digestion as a practical pathway ...

Bacterial metatranscriptome of dentin caries [PDF]
Dental caries results from altered microbial community activity in disease compared to health. Caries advanced into dentin was compared with coronal caries and caries-free sites. Oral bacterial samples were obtained from young children, placed in RNAlater and stored frozen. mRNA was purified and sequenced on an Illumina NextSeq 500 platform.

Vaginal host–microbe signatures linked to placental outcomes in mares
Abstract Background Ascending placentitis is a leading cause of late‐term pregnancy loss in mares. Although pathogens are presumed to ascend from the caudal reproductive tract, the association between the vaginal microbiome and placentitis has not been systematically examined.

bacNeo: A Computational Toolkit for Identifying Bacteria‐Derived Neoantigens in Human Cancers
We present bacterial neoantigen (bacNeo), a multi‐omics‐based computational software to classify bacterial components (BACC), type bacteria‐bound HLA alleles (BACH), and prioritize bacterial peptides as neoantigens (BACP). Bacterial neoantigen potential is quantified by score for peptide antigenicity recognition & kinetics (SPARK), enabling ...

Evolution of the Quorum Sensing Regulon in Cooperating Populations of Pseudomonas aeruginosa
In the opportunistic pathogenic bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa acyl-homoserine lactone quorum sensing (QS) can activate expression of dozens to hundreds of genes depending on the strain under investigation.
